There are lots of Metairies in the country.
He lived on Bonnabel north of I-10...outside of Old Metairie.

Big Lee you mean and it was sweet because he was in Old Metairie, not that crappy regular Metairie.

I have some friends in Bucktown, its a nice little street they live on with nice houses and friendly neighbors all around. The levee to walk your dog or go for a run.
Doesn't seem too bad over there.
This.

Maybe. Maybe not. Now would be the time to unleash the hounds on what exactly are the boundaries of “Old Metairie”.
My guess is bounded very roughly by Airline Hwy, Causeway, Veterans, and Lake Avenue or the Canal that runs parallel to Lake. Anything north of Veterans like Bucktown, or, say Whitney Heights closer to Causeway don’t make the cut. Big Lee might depending on whose judging and which side of Bonnabel he lived.

I have a colleague who dreams of living on Farnham. To me it looks like a poor man's Audubon Blvd.

For the love of god please stop. A certain poster that I won't name will be in here soon to argue about this for the next 6 hours knowing he's wrong just like you are.

I'm confused.

I've been to a lot of places and Metairie is not among the places your description calls to mind.
Cumming, GA? Suburban Oslo? Sure. Not Metairie.

I mean, I’ve seen places that can certainly compare. It’s no Highland Park or Plano, but there are some dreg suburbs out there. Go to Jersey or Long Island for some examples. Philly’s suburbs are terrible as well.

Big Lee was Old Metairie.
What are you even talking about?

Mostly older 70s stock homes, ugly strip malls, and aging apartment buildings throughout.
You just described most random suburbs across the country.
