Smuggling Crackdown: Major lines, including Carnival Cruise Line, are strictly enforcing bans on bringing liquor on board, with penalties including permanent bans from future sailing.
Alcohol Purchases: Alcohol bought at ports of call is typically held by security and returned on the last day of the cruise
Is alcohol not included or limited on these cruises ?
If I'm stuck on a boat my BAC ain't getting below the legal level

The alcohol restrictions are put in place because they want you to buy alcohol from them.

Alaskan cruises provide many opportunities to see how your namesake fish are raised and harvested, so you’re missing out, but the Norwegian snobs claim their salmon is the best.

Most cruises offer a drink package.
I’m going on Virgin and they don’t do unlimited.

Cruising is a lot of fun
Can you be specific?
What are the fun things that can only be done on a cruise?

I try think even Carnival is taking steps to deal with the “weave-pulling fights” mentioned in the OP. Wasn’t there a story jsit last year that they have put in place new rules to deal with certain “problematic” passengers?

Think of a huge resort hotel with gyms, pools, clubs, etc., that allows you to visit a different city every time you make a port of call. So you party all night, wake up and see...St. Tropez. Then you party all night and wake up and see...um, Monte Carlo. Then you party all night and wake up to see...Rome, maybe?
It has its own charm, without a doubt, for people who like that.

Why must certain things only be available on a cruise to justify going on one? This board’s obsession with denigrating cruises is odd.

The European river cruises are tiny and very nice. No Walmart people

We do a cruise every other year. We’ve also done all inclusive resorts a good deal as well. Both are very similar in that basically everything expect souvenirs are already paid for and also include entertainment, excursions, and activities. The difference is with a cruise is you also have the opportunity to visit different places.
Personally, my favorite part of a cruise is going to the quieter adults-only pool section (known as “Serenity” on the Carnival Line), find a shaded lounger, and spend the day immersed in a good history book while enjoying drinks and the occasional dip on the pool.

I've never been on a cruise but i think i would only do silver seas or something similar. Being crammed in with thousands of people on a ship isn't my idea of fun

There are a lot of “normal” people who absolutely love cruises
I work with a couple very high income employees that love going on a cruise. They plan to take 2/year as vacations. I relate it to the casino crowd. They go on 1-2 initially and start getting comps in the mail and that becomes just what they do.
The wife and I have been on one cruise. We had a good time and it was a fun trip, but sort of a one time deal for the experience. At the end of the day, it wasn’t really a ‘cheap’ trip like it should’ve been. I don’t get cruise people, but to each their own. I’d rather do that than go to Pensacola every year and bake in the sand.

Flying to Europe can’t be done via Frontier.

There are people who will always go on those adult only swinger cruises.

Upper end lines will be okay.
I booked an Alaska cruise on one of the upper end cruise lines. Alaska was every bit worth it. Definitely a bucket list item and I would do it again, just not on one of those big boats. Being herded like cattle and being on the ship with that many people is a non starter for me.
I would be willing to try a river cruise on one of the nicer lines. My brother just did one in France and was very impressed.

I have a feeling corporate America is not going to be as cooperative with the Democrats and other busy body totalitarians this time around. After causing themselves tens of billions in losses during the Chinese Flu farce, just to find out what we all knew from the beginning - that it was a sham, I doubt they're going to slit their own throats as readily.

I'm sure the opposite, sorry to disappoint you.
As Americans continue to get fatter and more sedentary, cruises will continue to be a primary way for people to vacation - because it's EASY.
I'm done with cruises for now. Did them as a family when the kids were younger. Will probably do it again when we have grandkids.
That said, I've always had a blast on cruises - because I do that where ever I go.

The cruise lines want you to buy your alcohol and drink packages from them. They don’t make any money if passengers BYOB.
