Pretty to look at but that’s about it.
I like to be able to ride my bike and run on the beach.

I feel your pain. I tried to get a Hampton’s trip and they would not let me stay for $150 a night. Tried Riveria and offered $250 with no success. Tried Fiji for $350 a night, including flights and meals and they told me that was not enough. What is the issue?
Maybe they can start subsidizing the trips with all the people that actually work for a living. This is ridiculous. I am entitled to a vacation at a resort area that I cannot afford.
There are only about 20 other beach areas that you can easily afford just as close. Bay St. Louis is cheap. You can live it up there.

What the hell are you talking about? The poors go to 30A.
If you vacation on the 30A now it really must be your second or third vacation behind Vail/Aspen/Beaver Creek, a Caribbean trip and a lake house. It’s not exclusive to poors, but nobody goes there for their exclusive vacation. It’s too much traffic to enjoy unless you get to go a lot and do not have to do the Saturday to Saturday condo rentals.

B. The super "rich" are not at 30A.

30A is NOT where the uber wealthy hang out. I know people that have houses there who are dentists. That ain’t uber wealth. You can get a house in watercolor for under 1.5 mil. Not uber wealth.
I can rent a nice af house for 10k a week. Not uber wealth.
Go to the hamptons. 10k will buy you one night! THAT is wealth.
I will say though, there is no place that has beaches or water as nice as the emerald coast in the continental US. I’ve seen em all

I mean Florida has lot of coastline to pick?
This is what I never understood about the hot in style beach places in Florida.
As long as they have solid golf courses and a beach they're all pretty much the same to me.

They are the same in that they have sand and water. However, the appeal of 30A is the ability to ride bikes everywhere. To be able to rent a cottage and not a 18th floor condo. That is why we like it down there.

They did move the post office, they're building a tower where it was, and Bud's across the street is expanding
So there are some changes, but they aren't bulldozing the amphitheater to put up condos, ol man Davis don't roll like that

thats good to hear. i guess i heard wrong then; someone said they were making that whole open area into condos but I guess just the post office.

IDK if Buddy’s is a normal stop for y’all, but check it out this year. Steamed shrimp and much, much more.

I agree. I’ve been north to south on both the east and the west coast and I have not found another beach that has a better combination of sugar white sand and beautiful turquoise water.
Siesta key is a close second IMhO

Siesta is nice but different sand. There’s some nice beaches aroudn sarasota too but the sand is like baby powder. It’s dusty.
I like the sand on emerald coast better.

This comes up so much. I don’t get how people don’t comprehend what they think of as super wealthy in the Deep South isn’t the same as New York, Boston, Cali, DC, and etc.

Wow, didn't know 30A was such a touchy, feely subject for some of you all. My statement was just an oversimplification. I'll be in the Pensacola area in two weeks as that's as far as my east TX. money will take me. Cheers everyone. See you at the beach.

People need to realize a lot of people who made their own money in the south and aren’t old money don’t do the Hampton’s/Malibu scene etc etc

They're the exception, not the rule, and the same thing could be said from Gulf Shores to Panama City

The Penningtons have a place there

So you think everyone was going to go to 30A and people would just stop going to Destin?
My in-laws actually have a condo in Destin. We used to go in the Summer up until the traffic in Destin got so bad we just said the heck with it and only go in the Fall now, if we go at all. This was also when 30A was still kinda under the radar but now it seems that 30A is the new hip place to go so I figured Destin traffic might be easing up a little.

St. Marteen for the win. 30A is for cheesedicks who just got their first production bonus.
