My thoughts exactly. How about you get a job where you don't have to drive in that horrible traffic during rush hours?

My BR commute is 10 minutes. They obviously got a cheap house in St George or LP.

Lived in Carencro for 2 years. Would go back in a heartbeat.

The commute from Carencro to BR took me 53 minutes door to door. My commute from Watson takes me on average an hour or more.

I was really surprised by how great Lafayette was.

Gotta find a new job first.

At least that's my thought process.

I'd go to Houston. Only a 4 HR drive from your parents. Plenty to do and super affordable.

Nola ain't bad either, houses are effing high, but social/bar/restaurant scene is unmatched.

How close is close to parents? Houston only a few hours away from BR. I’m so glad I left BR and moved to Houston. Still get back to La for all major events

Any of you Houston baws from BR tried taking 105 > 12 > 190 lately? Over the Christmas break me and my wife did, of course we live in Spring, but it only took us 5 hours that route. Hardly no traffic. Smooth sailing.

The way I justify it is, 1 construction or wreck related backup on I10 and that route takes 5 + hours. Not to mention the almost permanent backup on I10E near the Mississippi Bridge. Crazy arse drivers. Millions of truckers.

It’s a less stressful route at the minimum

What changes really? You still have bad to pathetic politicians, people, economy, infrastructure, public schooling, and about anything else you measure an area by. If OP wants a change and to have nice things the bottom line is you have to leave Louisiana. I love the people and where I am from, but nothing is going to change for the foreseeable future, if ever, there

Vermillion Parish is nationally known for its schools these days so that is an option.

move out of the city to the outer suburbs.

realtor websites have crime stats that are very useful for "safer" places to live.

in the cities, the cheaper the property values the more likely you are to die

That's ridiculous. My standards are probably more particular than most. I've lived through the destruction of NO East. I've been warning people about Metairie since the 1990s and they called me ridiculous. I mentioned in my first post that the apartments going up in Mandeville and Covington were the beginning of the end. I gave it about 15 more years.

Aren't you the kid who would make routine threads and posts downing the suburbs so you could feel better about yourself?

Ponchatoula west and east of 55 is nice for a family. Anywhere along 22 to madisonville is nice.
