Two other urban areas had bad news. The Lafayette area's economy shrank 11.5 percent, third-worst nationwide. The Houma-Thibodaux area economy shrank 10.4 percent. Both areas saw broad-based declines including drops in oil exploration, transportation and utilities, finance and real estate and durable goods manufacturing.
I'm so sorry you are butt hurt about it but Lafayette has had the worst economy in the state and the 3rd worst economic growth nationwide because it lacks economic diversity.

Lake Charles had the highest in the nation! So I guess you assume LC is the best city in Louisiana to live in? Your point is just not what this is about! Geeez, there's always that one guy........and it's you

And Laffy is such a diverse economy, even though heavy oil industry surrounds, it still has thrived during this bad time in oil......but here comes oil again!
You're so correct. What I posted had absolutely nothing to do with your previous comment

No, no, and NO
It's largest sector of diversified job took a hit, that's it!
Again, Lake Charles led all cities because of the huge Port Cameron, LNG, etc CONSTRUCTION projects bringing in hundreds or thousands of workers....depleting housing inventories, which stimulates the entire housing markets, including construction, which also all stimulates the other sectors (retail, consumer goods, etc)
So the stimulant to LCs record growth was influx of workers on those projects..
Take away that stimulus this year, and you would see their growth plummet!
Still a nice city. And all other aspects of the city are still there, so, although your chart would show digression or shrinkage of the economy, it would still be a nice place to live.
Just like the other poster's point...he knows 4 people who would rather live in Laffy and commute, than live in BR.
Suck it

Yes...OTHER sectors have thrived although the oil (largest) sector brings down the overall #s drastically..
You can grasp this simole concept, can't you? Well, obviously not

Buy my house in Mandeville. Then I can move to like Bay Saint Louis.
