If their card reader is fricked and not taped off and you’ve already swiped and want to make sure the transaction cancelled before driving off? Then you don’t want to drive up to pay cash and lose your spot.

Sometimes I need a receipt and it doesn’t print at the pump, dipshit. Sorry you have to wait a couple minutes longer in your miserable life.

Then predict you would go to this certain pump.
Beat you to that pump.
Then park my Yugo there.
Go inside and use the bathroom for awhile while reading tigerdroppings.
Then get something to eat as I am a fatty.
Then wobble out to the pump to pump gas.
No matter how many stations are around you, I appreciated you waiting for me to pump gas.

I’ve seen gas spewing from a car more than once when people did this & the auto shut off on the pump malfunctioned. However, it doesn’t set off trashy alarms for me, if you don’t mind the potential mess & waste of money.
