LSU or a private investor needs to start buying every house from the north gates to downtown, starting with the west side of Highland.
A clean, safe connection from LSU to downtown between Highland and Nicholson would be a good start.
Parents from out of state who send their kids here and they end up in that housing outside the north gates have no idea what lurks 100 feet from their children's apartments.

This nasty, hateful woman is a major player in the Recall Landry campaign.
She also has a huge facebook following and had swarms of angry women like herself going into local businesses in the New Orleans area earlier this year with "ICE NOT WELCOME" signs asking them to put one up in their window. If they refused she belittled them online and dumb liberal white people joined in, swearing to never do business with any of them.
This couldn't have happened to a nice person. Her FB profile pic for catfishing reference:
