If we're talking about parking lots, let's discuss the abuse of handicapped passes...

Maybe 1 in 100 times I see someone parking in a handicapped spot do they have some visible mobility impairment. The other 99 times it looks like they mail them out for free along with ebt cards. How can we fix this problem?

In conjunction, what about having less handicapped spaces altogether since they are rarely even half full?

At least in Texas, to get one, you have to have a provider sign off on it. To get it renewed, you just have to show up with the placard and that's it. No way that gets abused over decades.

I can’t say I agree with this. I often bring my elderly mother grocery shopping and more often than not, all handicapped spaces are taken.

My neighbor has a Military Honors handicapped plate. He’s handicapped on paper to collect more money from the government after retiring. He plays soccer on the weekends and runs about five miles every morning but he’ll park in the handicapped spots wherever he goes.

It must be living in an area with enough personal accountability for handicap spots to not be on near perma-lockdown by people with no discernable mobility issues at all.

A guy I work with in Texas had Achilles surgery a month ago. He’s already walking fine. His doctors signed off for him to have a handicap tag for 6 months. To his credit he only used it a a couple weeks but still. 6 months?
