I’m firmly convinced that there are a lot of families that have a member of the family who has been issued a handicapped mirror tag. I think that they just hang it near the door of their home, and anyone leaving the house will just grab it and put it on their mirror when they make a trip to any place where they’ll need to publicly park.

I'm sick of seeing more and more people abuse every system we have, and then people like you saying mannnnn it's no big deal, it's just a little fraud here and there. Civilization is only as strong as its citizens, and we have regressed too far.

Elderly people and handicapped people are not the same thing. Elderly people do not get to park in handicapped spots

One of these plates entitles you to park in a handicapped spot, one does not (unless accompanied by a HC hang tag). Yet I see the latter constantly parked in HC spaces. The latter likely got their DV for sleep apnea and tinnitus, and is perfectly capable of walking into the store like the rest of us.

We are probably going to be getting a handicapped pass for my wife's vehicle sometime in the future. My youngest daughter is disabled and will have to use some kind of walker device to get around, so it lets my wife park near the front for that.
I'm mixed on it because it will definitely help when its just her with both kids, but when its both of us I can just carry my daughter and then she can walk when we get where we are going. I'd hate for some older person to not have a spot and have to walk a long way to get in or have trouble parking. But I think my wife will want to use it all the time and I just don't know about that

Wife is a paralyzed polio surveyor from 1948, so we get to have a permanent plate, that I use also because of knee replacements, spine stenosis, and hip replacing. An observation of military Disabled, I will always respect highly the Purple Heart plates, the others range from a hang nail to a tooth ache . There is lots of abuse in a system that relies on self respect.
Last Monday in the HEB parking lot, the last HC spot was taken by a woman, we will call her Karen, who was in a golf cart with a large dog. I had to park 200 feet away, using a grocery basket as a walker. As I am headed to the store she comes up towards me,,,,,,and I smile at her and with my best Sam Elliot voice impression,,,,I tell her that her golf cart is no fricking handicap vehicle. Smiled and walked on.......

I stopped and ate in Jasper Alabama a couple months ago. Some jackass in, of course, a grey or silver squatted truck backed in and double parked in two handicapped spaces. Absolutely centered the striped wheelchair access lane and had each side of wheels in each spot.
I have never messed with anyone's vehicle before... but it was all I could do to keep from digging a key so deep in that POS that it would have taken bondo to smooth it back out.

Alot of those with handicap placards are fatfricks who really need to park the furthest away so they can get some damn exercise that they obviously avoid on a regular basis.

Hell yes. I was walking into the Target in Cinco Ranch past some loser woman parked in the HC spot, still in her car, all HC spots were occupied. She'd likely sent her kid in for something. I'm shaking my head, when the stars aligned as I was about to pass her car, and a lady in a walker was shuffling right in front of her vehicle that I demonstrably pointed out to clueless witch. Someone that actually needed the spot had to truck her walker with her tennis balls past this b1tch.

I used to feel like the op and I’m sure there is a lot of abuse of these handicap passes. My wife now needs one for a very debilitating disease. Just by looking you probably would say that lady doesn’t need that sticker but I promise you she does 95 percent of the time. I tend to judge less now that the shoe is on the other foot.
