Sure, but they would need to pay them $3,333 per month

I agree except

quote:

restrictions for those with felonies

Why? If they did the sentence and are off probation, shouldn't we be encouraging a stable lifestyle that the other things you mentioned bring? If anything it would be an incentive to Stabilize their life and be a better parent.

Overall I disagree with the principle of the proposal and it goes against every core belief as a libertarian, but if your restrictions, minus the felony thing, were implemented i wouldn't bitch too much as I think it would have a lot of positive effects on society.

And who foots the bill for all this?

There are some felonies that would not mix well with encouraging the development of a family. I wasn't suggesting an outright exclusion for all felons.

On top of the food stamps, the section 8, the free phone, the WIC, the child support, and everything else?

Time to identify as a single mom and stay home and play video games

Mom

Get kid up
Throw frozen waffles in toaster
Text Susie about lunch
help get kid ready
Drop kid off at school (then 8 hours to do nothing)
Go eat lunch
Meet Jody for sex time
Text, Text, Text
Pick up kid and get him Chik Fil A
Wait for dad to get home so you can bitch about how stressful your day was

I’d leave my wife if she couldn’t earn 4X that.

I disagree with the author’s premise that parenting should be treated as market labor . Where this home economics labor is the means of production to supply a demand.

Last I checked, nobody begged me to have children.

I also disagree that this would provide net benefits to society. The article actually clarifies that this isn’t about parenting. It’s about making women feel equal and appreciated in the work force while artificially stimulating the consumer economy through debt, higher taxes, or most likely both.

My guess is this wouldn't apply to parents who's kids are all school age.

I’m an a SAHM homeschool mom - the boost in pay would be nice - but it’s not necessary

Paying moms to stay home will not automatically make the next generation better - moms have to be willing to interact with their children and actually take care of them - not just give them a device and call it a day

Depends on whether you engage with the kid or just want to do your own thing.

Who gets to decide if they are qualified to become a mom? Can the bad ones be fired?
