What COVID vax did you have? Any boosters?
It’s a university well outside the top 100 in many, many rankings. Some even have it nearly at 200.

If you have a pulse and a checkbook, they’ll let you in.

Nothing is guaranteed. It's a dream. You said it yourself.

For some people, their dreams come true. For others, not so much.

I'm not sure that's an altogether bad thing.

An ice-cold can of Barq’s root beer.

Not like refrigerator cold.

Like sitting in an ice chest all afternoon cold.

I don’t do sodas, but I can never refuse an ice-cold can of Barq’s from an ice chest.

just skimmed OP but isn't this in Philly? lots of shipyards and O&G there, and a pretty high COL

It's only 3% higher than the national average and housing is 1% cheaper.

What do you guys think?

You probably missed some networking opportunities, but if you've landed an internship and are at least a little socially active you'll be fine.

The world is a different place now. Every generation is going to view and value things a little differently. You have views your folks think are crazy and vice versa. What truly matters, in my opinion, is when the rubber meets the road.

As long as you're learning the material and making the grade, I don't see any issues.

Sounds like you're killing it. Good on you.

Yeah it’s a 5x7ish shed (a little room to walk around in and mostly store tools). I may do some work inside but generally will pull tools out to the patio next to it to work. I would think I’d generally be running a small dust collection system and one tool at a time, plus battery charging and then LES shed lighting.

I’d hope that one 20amp circuit could handle that. Tell me if I’m sounding too ambitious though.
Commercial contractor here. Not an electrician.

Depending on your home's service and availability in your panel, I would throw in (2) single pole 20a breakers. Pull (2) lengths of 12-2 Romex to your shed. That'll get you lights and a few outlets on one circuit and whatever else you want on the other.

The cost of that material (if you're going to DIY - which you absolutely can) is nothing compared to trenching out in a few months if you want more juice.

Of course, if you don't like the shed you can take that one goober's advice and use extension cords.

Also, if there's nothing in the shed that will require permanent power (small beer fridge or exhaust fan), I'd add a non-fusible disconnect where the power leaves your house or where it enters the shed. Small investment for some peace of mind and safety.

Let’s role play.

I’ll be the guy who doesn’t have any savings, and you’ll be the small business owner.

Get fricked business owner. Thanks for the 66% discount. See you later.

On what planet does that make any sense?

Is to cancel my Netflix subscription and stop buying lattes and avocado toast?

I don't think anyone thinks it's a one-for-one. Saving $4.00 a day shouldn't move a person into or out of any significant living situations.

However, I think it's more about the spirit of being able to understand "nice to haves" vs. "need to haves". A lot of post-Gen Xers seems to struggle with self discipline and regulation in that regard.

So no, it isn't about one subscription or a latte every morning. It's more about being able to sacrifice, see the big picture, and make sound adjustments to one's lifestyle.

Or keep buying Starbucks, if that's what makes you happy. Or Netflix. That spend, spend, spend pattern of behavior can be a real challenge when you're trying to get yourself established.
