The number of welfare homes in this country would explode. Seriously, how can this be even considered as a good idea when we have the glaring example of the welfare state to show us the outcome of such a move?

Yeah, I definitely see that happening.

This would only encourage people to have more kids they cannot begin to support. What a dumb idea

Eh, you're already financially incentivizing this behavior with unwed motherhood, SNAP, Medicaid and welfare. Billions in benefits handed to people who cannot support themselves.

Offering a counter incentive to stable, 2-parent households to better raise productive families is a welcome change. But this would also see a drastic rise in homeschooling, and well, the State wants your kids indoctrinated early.

There is no way these would be required as they would be deemed discriminatory. Single moms would say it's not fair and they damn sure aren't going to homeschool their kids when they can let the state babysit them for 8 hours.

my wife will probably go back at some point, but I wish she wouldn't

Totally agree. My wife was a nurse making good money before we had kids, and I'm happy to give up that money for her to be home with our girls. I told her I don't care if she ever goes back to the hospital because I like having her running the home

Nah. You’d make 30% more than that. Remember, women only get paid 70 cents on the dollar

That's why the workforce is only made up of women... wait... what the frick?

Countries like Hungary offer subsidies to families to raise more children (boost natural born birth rate and not import people)—pay less tax, easier loans, among other programs. Nazi Germany had programs like that as well hut it’s been a while since I read up on them. Promoting motherhood is a good thing, tbh i’d hate to stay at home, too much work taking care of a house and family

I disagree. I’m a career woman who likes to accomplish goals and have success in my life. I’d rather work hard earning a living than sitting home at home living off of someone else’s money and being bored.

Money and buying things comes and goes. It gets boring. Accomplishing something great and making a difference is so much more worthwhile than just getting money.

That would be an 80% paycut for my wife.

Absolutely, a huge gulf between sticking them in front of the tv for 6 hours of Mickey Mouse clubhouse and actually working/playing with them.

No, homeschooling could never be a requirement for the reasons you suggested. I didn't argue otherwise.

Now, two-parent households veritably could be, right? If the unwed mom gets resources because she's unwed, why can't the wedded mom do the same under a different program?
