I want an update from this guy. Flight cancelled? Still going to Disney on Thursday/Friday?
He said he was going to drive because his wife had his balls in her purse, and she was insisting that they still take the trip.
And people still wonder why married men live longer and in better health than single men.

At some point you have to man up and do what’s in the best interest of the family even if it means pissing her off.
That said, if Disney closes, then old boy will be able to hang that over her head for a loooooong time.
"Hey, babe, remember that time you FORCED us to drive into a hurricane because you HAD to go to Disney...and then Disney closed?"

I feel like its necessary to link this video of Port Fourchon when Ida came around if people need any more push on leaving:
Wait, is that a time lapse or something??

Radar estimate of 115mph winds at a beam height of 20,000 feet around the eye, as it exits Cuba.

Orlando is gonna get TS force winds, I don't know how Disney doesn't close.

I imagine it will begin eyewall replacement as it strengthens soon over open water.

Do you not understand women? It doesn't work that way.

My uncle in Port Richie still refuses to leave despite being in evacuation zone A. I shite you not he's gonna hunker down on the 2nd floor of a barn on his property and have his boat nearby in case he needs to leave.
Advise him to update his will and make sure it is in a waterproof container so it can possibly be found later. That should get the message across to GTFO.

My wife is supposed to be going to Destin this weekend for a bachelorette trip

how confident are you in the roof system of 145mph gusts?
I’m trying to find data on winds from hurricanes that we’ve been through already. This building was built in the 70’s, so not ideal. But I’m not sold on these winds being worse than what we’ve already experienced.
Full disclosure, leaving isn’t off the table and we’ve got family in Lakeland that we would drive over to.

Destin should be good, it's pretty far west

you might be fine if this storm comes ashore a decent job south of you and you stay on the west side.

Looks like its wobbling due east of north

Yep, it's going to pull even cooler weather down from the front.
We have lightning in the eye wall. Amazing! For those playing bingo, Rapid Intensification is now on the table.

Yea I stayed downtown Houma for Ida as well. Let’s just say never again. I watched my ceilings and walls shake. I thought at one time we were gonna lose one whole side of the house. I remember all of us trying to sleep and I was up just hearing the wind scream all night! Went 14days on generator power and it was like 5-7 days with very little water pressure.
I feel for all the people who will be affected by this storm. Especially after what we went through for Ida last year.

Yeah. Any East movement should be short lived. There is a pretty significant high pressure building back in from Canada.
