Disney has not mentioned closing yet. (To their employees)

ERT is reiterating to not call for help if they tell you to leave and you ignore them.

Eye seems it wants to clear out soon on visible satellite

IMO, it's going to be interesting to see this next advisory, because it almost looks like the more recent runs continue to track it a bit south and east.

Which would be worrisome because it presumably would have less time to "weaken" as shear increases.

Still a lot of uncertainty and spread.

could spare Tampa area hitting the coast further south and staying on the west side of storm.

This gif makes it seem like it turning east more quickly.

I love how they are not showing what a parking lot I-275, I-75, and I-4 it is on TV right now. They are bringing up feeds from Gainesville showing it wide open.

But that could also bring it south of Tampa/Sarasota which is less populated.

Anything to keep the east side of the storm out of Tampa Bay will help

Thought all those 50”+ totals from Harvey had asterisks because unverified gauges.

Nope. There were widespread, confirmed 30+ inches in that area along with isolated amounts much higher.

Interestingly, the UKMET, which has basically been an outlier, could be worth a second look.

The quaint old Florida feel is why I loved AMI so much

As a kid we visited my uncles in Sarasota and I loved going to AMI. The oyster restaurant on the pier was my favorite place to eat when we visited back then. Pier Burger, clam strips and oysters was what I ordered every time

At some point you have to man up and do what’s in the best interest of the family even if it means pissing her off.

I dunno...the National Weather Service still seems to recognize it as the continental US record from everything I can find, and I don't see anything about it being an 'unofficial' total on Google. Apparently radar estimates had some areas getting up to 70", so it doesn't seem that far-fetched.

Unless he's a first responder or an ER doc I don't think he "has" to work.
