Go donate blood right before your doctors visit.

I had high cholesterol as a kid (no, not fat) and was put into an 8 yr study program for Children's hospital. Took blood every week and had Thursday dinner meetings. I would say it sucked but I got a new Nintendo tape every time I gave blood cause I didn't volunteer for the fricking thing. Learned a ton of shite though but the best information I learned was portion your food and don't eat anything with over 5 gms of fat.

Most are good (edit.. not sure why I put wrong)
Skip the fat and butter.
Eat a lot of fiber (A LOT)
The metamuisal suggestion was good. Eat fiber One cereal or Cheerios. And cut out red meat, fatty food, fried food, and butter/oil. Use pecan oil if you need it to cook. Its a lot lower in cholesterol

Eat honey and Cinnamon the day of and a day before the test. It will trick the test.
But if you want to have less cholesterol you need an alkaline body. The cholesterol test looks a chol in the blood. Why would it be in your blood? because when your body is acidic, it hardens your arteries, when they harden they crack. Cholesterol patches the cracks.
What makes a body alkaline? green vegetables, eat a lot of cucumbers and sprouts.

Do pretty much the opposite of this and you'll be in good shape

Eat a plant based diet. Red beans and rice are OK but no sausage.
Watch the movie Forks over Knives.
(What you put on the fork saves you from going under the knife). I ate this way and dropped my cholesterol 60 points in 3 mos. Quit doing it and it went back through the roof.

Did it. Lost 15 lbs. Cholesterol numbers didn’t change.
According to recent studies, normally they do.

Yeah, because that’s the best option for someone with high cholesterol and is trying to lower it.
As others have said, up your fiber and clean up the fatty/fried foods in your diet. Drink lots of water and exercise.
I dropped mine by upping my fiber and cleaning up my diet. Eating oatmeal in the morning also helped.
ETA: If it’s genetic, it’ll remain high despite diet/lifestyle changes and you’ll need to be on it anyway.

This worked for me:
Cut out all oils except avocado or olive oil.
cut out butter
cut out cheese
cut out processed meats
greatly reduce red meat
eat steelcut oats for breakfast
eat a honey/cinnamon/ dark chocolate spread on your whole grain toast. (I make my own mix using local raw honey).
eat an avocado a day. I have an avocado/lettuce/tomato sandwich for lunch.
I allow myself to cheat on the weekends for a meal or 2 (pizza, cheese enchiladas, fried fish (if I fry anything at home I use avocado or olive oil).

This....mine has always been high, but am not going to take their statin pill as it's got terrible side effects. Many people have heart attacks that have low cholesterol, sometimes too low. There are other better indicators that your doctor should be looking at including homocysteine levels. You should find a homeopathic doctor that you can trust.
