I refuse to step foot on a dealers lot until a price has been negotiated online or over the phone. They send me an offer sheet with $2500 of “Value added accessories” so I told him we weren’t interested in that. He responded with “Unfortunately, our accessories have already been added to our vehicles. The only one I can get approved to be removed would be the environmental protection.”
I told him thanks for his time, we will keep looking, and happy holidays. I added that he has my number if he wants to sell me a car before the end of the year and not “accessories”.

Interest rates are sky high and people aren’t exactly running to lots right now, why do car salesman plays these stupid games?

The industry thought process is that dealerships will be gone in ten years... They will be showrooms and repair centers, but won't be selling you a car. You will buy direct from the manufacturer. Too many dealerships add ridiculous mark-ups that are hurting the manufacturers bottom line.

What if these accessories are things like power windows? I mean did they break it down what they were?

Correct except you should never TELL them ur paying cash.. . negotiate everything , then at the last second tell them youve decided to pay cash , or just pay off the vehicle after the first month- but make sure you eliminate any ‘early payoff penalty’ BS from the contract before you sign it .. these deviant , miscreant car dealers LIVE for financing these days, there’s a guy on YT who lays it all out excellently but i can tremember his name to post it.. probbaly several people though you can search .

ETA best video ive seen on the subject

NEVER say ‘I’m paying cash’ at a dealership

I don’t know who’s teaching these car dealerships that acting like a piece of shite is the way to make money in the long term.

I went to Gerry Lane a few years ago to get a replacement key fob and ended up getting trapped for an hour by their douchebag sales team throwing out the most ridiculous, crappy, insulting “deals” because I made the mistake of looking at a new truck while I waited for my fob, and I’ve never been back since or will go again. I have to think that most grown men who can buy a truck operate like me instead of letting some loser bully them into buying a vehicle of all things?

I completely get why Arabs at those crappy stands in the mall use high pressure sales over their $10 junk, but who’s impulse buying a $30,000 car?

All a bunch of BS. I walked 2/3 times on my last car. I bought one from Wisconsin and avoided all fees. $1,000 to ship. Better than $3/4,000 they tried to add around here.

Elon Musk -despite being a total piece of shite with his social media shenanigans- had this 100% right when it comes to Tesla and eliminating car $tealerships .
