I treat everyone w respect. But I don’t think the world is full of people out to screw me.

I don’t sell cars, never have, but I just tell my guy what I want and what I want the diff to be

I just show up and sign and drive off.

And I think I get outstanding service. I just text my salesman and he sends someone to get my truck or gets me an appt w minimal wait.

I like being friendly to thise that help me

I refuse to step foot on a dealers lot until a price has been negotiated online or over the phone. They send me an offer sheet with $2500 of “Value added accessories” so I told him we weren’t interested in that. He responded with “Unfortunately, our accessories have already been added to our vehicles. The only one I can get approved to be removed would be the environmental protection.”
I told him thanks for his time, we will keep looking, and happy holidays. I added that he has my number if he wants to sell me a car before the end of the year and not “accessories”.

I've done the same.
I've walked even when the dealership still had the best deal (but I didn't like the late add ons in the buying process).

I just can't reward that type of behavior.

The industry thought process is that dealerships will be gone in ten years... They will be showrooms and repair centers, but won't be selling you a car. You will buy direct from the manufacturer. Too many dealerships add ridiculous mark-ups that are hurting the manufacturers bottom line.

When people have to start dealing directly with the greedy assed mega corporations, yeah, sure, will be a ton easier and cheaper, simpler, more transparent………..people just think dealerships are out to get them.

IF you knew my clients and my list of M and A contracts then you would know that I have access to enough of what you mentioned plus what dealership owners have access to.. As one of my multi location dealers reminds me.. The money is not in selling cars.

How are the markups hurting the manufacturers? The manufacturer sells the vehicle to the dealer before it shows up on the lot. The markups have nothing to do with the manufacturer.

I do agree the process is not fun but that statement isn’t true.

I really hate the finance guys.

They get offended when you don’t budge.

Alright we are adding tire protection and extended warranty. Let me stop you right there hoss. I don’t want any of that. We aren’t adding anything. And then they try to treat you like a child. Listen here motherfricker. I’m not financing an extended warranty.

Car dealers are some of the deepest pockets funding NIL.

Feel good that the extra money for glass etching, undercoating, and floor mats are paying for 4 and 5 star players.

Thank you all.

My wife and I let them go through their entire script. They’re always so personable and friendly leading up to their pitch about extended warranties and how good of deal they’re giving us.

It’s always a pleasure to say ‘no thanks’ without any hesitation. They seem so defeated. Who buys that crap?!?

My daughter had a car picked out. Reviewed the price with the dealer. I called to tell them I was coming with a check (guess they thought she'd be financing) and they backed out on the deal. Said that price was only for financing. I'll never do business there.

You missed an opportunity. If you have a sure enough, researched, and comfortable low price and they balk at cash… just ask the salesman how many payments it takes before the commission on the financing kicks in. See if they agree to just let you pay the 3, 4, or 5 payments to get the commission on the finance and then cut the check.

I’ve seen that done when the negotiations was at a stalemate.

They may still say no because they probably had a few percent tacked on the buy rate.

I always thought the best way is to just get the lowest price. Make them believe you are gonna finance. Get the out the door price. Tell them you will go get the down payment from the bank. And will be back. Just get the whole amount. Walk back in with the check for it all and just say “hell. Just decided I would buy it outright”.

Seriously though… do these fricks wanna sell a car or not? I’m not stupid. You never needed the “package” to sell the car. Take it off.

I have no problem giving them a few months of interest if they kick me a good deal. Last year I bought a new truck, got a good deal, told them I'd finance although I could pay cash. Finance guy told me that if I paid it off within 6 months, I'd have to pay huge fees so don't do that. Read the contract, saw he lied, paid it off within the first month

You buy a car without getting an extended warranty? You must love the service department advisor ( who btw is also working on commission)
