Math isn’t everyone strong suit, and that’s okay.
IMO Best teachers allowed extra credit to push across the line for a B, while A’s were reserved for the truly studious and/or gifted.

What are you some kind of rocket surgeon? This is the OT, we think Trig is a homeless guy's name.

Can you believe she's still alive???
She finally retired and moved to Pennsylvania?
Only the good die young
Honestly, she is a icon that bettered all her student's lives.

That’s the class I did the best in, surprisingly.

That's all just a faint memory....

If the class average for trig is low B high C, that’s pretty good

Guess the good news is that you take it early enough to make that decision.

The super strict teachers are typically the absolute best teachers, or the worse teachers, there's no inbetween it seems.
I've had the teachers who took their craft very seriously. They drilled the course contents in your head. They made very hard tests. No study guides, no retakes, etc. But they would always be willing to make themselves available after school for tutoring, The type of teachers who would refuse to allow you to slack off. And made sure everyone worked their arse off to earn their grade. I absolutely love these teachers, and I learned the most in their classroom.
On the opposite end, you have the teachers who were just as strict. The entire classroom failed the tests. But it wasn't because the course material was too hard or we weren't trying. They were just crappy teachers, and they couldn't see that. This moreso describes half of my college professors

I use it pretty much every day for my job, so if you don't like it, you better learn how to understand it and get along with it.

The 2 most hard arse teachers I had in high school were both old school math teachers and both doctors. I feared them but also respected them. They were actually longtime friends and big time fishin buddies.
Fast forward......Happen to bump into one of them at an LSU game years later (I was out of college working w a family by then) and took the opportunity to tell him that he and the other teacher were the best teachers I ever had. That they were tough but thats what made them good. I asked about the other one and he told me had passed away a few years back. Told him I was truly sorry to hear that but I could tell it made his day that I told him I remembered them as my best teachers.

You are 100% correct. . . It's math. It's either right or wrong. No partial credit. Period.
I disagree. Especially for math with lots of steps in it (like algebra or something like that). If there are five steps in the process and the student gets four of them right but fricks up the last one, it's a wrong answer. But it's fine for them to give partial credit for getting the other parts correct IMO. Plus it helps the student learn better when they can see exactly what they did wrong and fix it. Of all things to give partial credit on, math seems like a no brainer.

My favorite teachers were the ones who challenged you and proved that you could do the work. I guess some would see that as being strict.

Yep, teachers aren't allowed to teach much anymore. Glad she has a good one who tries.

I was in her '81-'82 class my senior year. She taught advanced math and calculus. I can confirm her class was tough but we learned a great deal. I can still hear her country accent. Nice lady though!

I asked her how the grades are and she said the test averages are always high C or low B.
I told she was lucky to have a teacher like that and who didn’t care if they “liked him” or thought he was the cool teacher”
OT thoughts ?
Good teacher.
He shouldnt be concerned if little boys and girls "like him". Hes teaching the most important science their is.
