965 mb with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph

It's currently at the exact same pressure and wind intensity as Hurricane Sally when it made landfall nearly 3 years ago.

Idalia still has a solid 12 hours before making landfall so it still has a window to make a run at Cat 4 status if it takes off into an RI cycle the next several hours

somewhere over the next 5 hours or so, it's not going to be an abrupt turn though, just a gradual shift to the NNE track into taylor/dixie counties

Cat 3 wow.

It's amazing what warm water and no shear can do.

At 9am this morning it was at 80 mph

And still 12 hours before landfall

New tornado watch for much of the eastern Florida peninsula. Tornadoes will be possible in the spiral bands.
