And pilings, tens of thousands of pilings driven until they hit solid bottom. I think some believe they’re just going to build a pad on top of the marsh.
Lauberge & Nugget were built on marsh in LC as are all of the LNGs in SW La. Millions of cubic yards of dirt will be trucked in by thousands of dump trucks.

Probably a massive wall around the entire site

Stopping coastal erosion should be no problem

That map is AI garbage.
Launch point isn't even close to Pecan Island, much less the state of LA.

I have no doubt, this is more curiosity on the engineering challenges and what they plan on doing
I know there is about to be a massive massive amount of dredging
I respect the fact that they are coming up with a plan to restore wetlands. And provide jobs for the local economy. If I was younger, I would absolutely love to work there.

I’m sure Elon has a plan.

I’m sure the man that has a plan to colonize mars can figure out how to build a stable structure and a levee.

Hurricanes won't exist here once Elon sets up the ultra cooling, dry air charged Satellite lasers that breakdown the hurricanes and direct them elsewhere.
Insurance rates would still increase.

It's not like the coast of Texas is all that different.

We are talking about some of the lowest areas, with no buffer or protection. Easily floodable and susceptible to storm surge and the elements.
I'm also wondering how they are going to build the foundations. A fully fueled Starship weighs about 5,000-5,300 metric tons (that's around half the weight of the Chrysler Building). When it blasts off, the pad will need to support the equivalent of ~12,000-13,000 metric tons of weight.
That's a LOT of weight and weight change for marshland. The engineering to set just one of those pads up is going to be impressive, but building forms, surcharging the soil, all the pilings having to be driven well over 100 feet down and the infrastructure just to support all that work for a dozen? It's mind-blowing to think about the level of engineering, money and work needed to do all of this.

There are drawings out there of the pilings for Pad 2. I’ll dig around online when I get home later and see if I can find one. It’s pretty ridiculous.

entire intricate levee and pumping system
you mean the ones that never work??

How are they going to build that on mush?
