I'm mid-40's with a toddler. It's amazing getting to experience little things in life that you take for granted as you see them happen for the first time in front of a child's eyes. I get why older people love spending time with their grandkids. It brings your playful youth back spending time with small children. Sounds like you're just going through a mid-life crisis. Get some TRT and stop having a pity party.

I member those glory days.

I do not find life thrilling at 46, but I don’t think I found it thrilling at 23 either.

That’s on me. What I do miss is feeling FREE. I don’t mean from shackles anyone out on me, I mean from the shackles I put on myself.

I remain hopeful that my 50s and beyond will be a time of relative freedom and mental peace, though at this point I don’t expect the world to be peaceful at that time.

Choose wisely.

Marry the right person and life can be a sweet ride which is what I’ve had.

Marry wrong and life is a long road and then you die.

I'm 84 and still look forward to every day.
My son called me a couple hours ago. Talked about my Grand Children that are in college.
Life is Great. I can still remember their names.

I think this is one area where new age men have old age men beat. We all look back at the rugged glory days when men were men and had rugged manly adventures we now a days would get arrested or ostracized for.

One way we have it better is longer life excitement. Raising your kids, being an involved dad and husband. Participating in the family aspect of life is incredible and all the manly men of old who left their families behind to have great adventures missed out on that part of life and therefore lost their excitement for life at a younger age.

I get so excited about gardening or fishing now. Leaving on a sweet vacation and I’m going to miss my garden.

Lame I know, but point is, find a hobby you love.

You should climb 20-25ft up in a tree and shoot animals with a bow. The thrill is always there!

As a guy myself who is around your age and still working- I am curious as to what approach you've been taking with friends and coworkers when discussing your impending retirement .. Ive heard that many people react badly, that jealousy kind of takes over and that, in a way, you will "find out who your true friends are" b/c many people will disconnect with you after you retire young... as if early retirement is some sort of moral failing ... ive heard of some early retirees taking the approach of simply saying "Im taking a sabbatical" .... and then they just never return to work .

It’s true. The same nosey arse people trying to dig for “how” are the same ones that will distance themselves from you and have nothing but bad shite to say about you. frick em

I am laughing at all the “my life is so great because of life’s simple pleasures and I’m so grateful” guys in here. You’ll all be the first guys to drive your car into a bridge abutment when the cops are chasing you because you killed your bitch wife.

But you keep on denying reality and shoving all the shite down until it becomes prostate cancer. And do it all with a smile on your face. But we all know you’re faking. At least some guys on here are honest about the fact that life mostly sucks.

I'm 61 and engaged to a woman I wish I had met in the 90s. Career may be nearly over and I/we won't need earned income soon.
Kids have careers, spouses, kids and houses. I have land to work and freedom to do so. Friends and family make life good and a lover makes it great.
The thrill is alive even in my 7th decade. 7th? frick that sounds old; but all is good.
