Here’s the thing, I’m well into my 50s, married for 28 years with two kids, one grown and engaged the other a year away from graduating HS. There is literally one person on the planet I have to impress with my dress and she’s the mother of my children. If I want to wear a comfortable pair of cargo shorts, then that’s exactly what I’m going to do with zero fricks to give about anyone’s opinion on the matter.
I would agree with absolutely all of this.
If they were comfortable. I don’t understand how anyone finds them comfortable. They’re long, heavy, baggie and bulky. I would feel like a circus clown if I were to wear them. I’m all about function over form but they’re like a cheap Swiss Army knife. They can do a lot of things but they suck at every one of those things.

I have some aftco and Columbia shorts that have pockets on the sides. But I wouldn’t call them cargo shorts. I’d call them utility shorts. They also don’t weigh 7 pounds a pair.

Preach it brother. I'm now 72, not out to impress anyone with my sartorial splendor with how much I'm trendy and can spend on items of clothing.
I'm all about comfort, ease of maintenance----as in wash and dry, don't give a single frick what you think as long as I'm feeling comfortable and relaxed.
I find the older I get, the less I give a damn what other's think and sorry I didn't adapt that attitude decades earlier.
Now. get off my lawn.......................

I’ve got a couple of those too. I love them. But they’re not cargo shorts

I think I got like two or three left in the bottom of my shorts drawer. They’ll probably never see the light of day again.

Cargo shorts ain’t frat. So I don’t own any.

Haven’t worn cargo shorts in years but use to. I liked the fact that there were enough pockets to win a war of attrition if I was ever searched for weed.
