Which vehicle? The Jeeps? The ATV's? The tractor? The truck? All of them, especially this time of year, freaking been a wet spring.

But the TJ Ruby transfer case gets the most action, usually Saturday nights after around 11. Only really need it on the back side of the pond most of the time, but I like to crawl around my property in 2nd gear.

They make them in AWD options now.

I helped those squatted trucks out of holes on the beach more times than I could count.

Anyone who squats a truck deserves to have it buried in the sand. I have slightly oversized tires and a special compressor/hose setup where I can deflate/inflate all 4 tires simultaneously. If the sand is really loose I'll air down to 10 PSI.

I have three 4x4 vehicles and use them all regularly in 4x4.

this is dumb. I assume most baws buy a 4wd because they know there are conditions when it's necessary or they'd just buy a sedan.

Off roading and here in TN the last couple years we've needed it from the huge snows we've gotten .

4runner a-trac/crawl control goat!!

I do and I use it.

How often have you had to put it in 4x4 over the last year?

Not that much because my rig has amazing traction control so it isn’t needed in snow. Probably 20 times. Almost always at a boat ramp or dirt/mud/gravel boat launch.

Both of my vehicles are full time 4WD. I’m sure they have given me better traction when needed and not having to think about putting it in 4WD mode.
4LO? Rarely, only when we go camping.
As others have said, better to have and not need.

I will lock it in to simply keep from tearing up the yard while pulling boats and trailers out of my back yard. Once you spin you create a rut.

I don’t have it but there have been times I’ve needed it and wish I had it. Would definitely use it more than a spare tire. Thats how I look at it. I’ve been driving for 30 years and only had to use a spare tire 4 times. I’ve needed 4WD probably 20-30 times. You don’t get a car without a spare tire just because you hardly use it.

Every truck I have bought since I have had big boy money has been 4x4 and every one till I die will be 4x4.
I use it about 5-10 times a year but when I do if I didn’t have it I would have wrecked or spent the night where it was at or couldn’t go hunting where I wanted to. Small price to pay with no downside I have seen.

Really surprised at the number of people who put it in 4WD while it’s raining. Never once done that on the highway. Only if I’m on a muddy road while it’s raining.

I have a V6 2WD but have it jacked with 37-12.50 meats to make it look like a 4wd.

Buy it. Trust me. I’ve done what you’re thinking and stuck several times and it certainly wasn’t mud riding. 4x4 on all future trucks. It’s like insurance. You don’t need it until you do.

Use it a lot when at the deer lease and hunting season. We have a private launch a couple of us use for our duck lease and pending how much rain we get it will get pretty sloppy. My dad and I both have 4x4’s and been having them for many years.

When I lived in Boston, put it in 4WD in October and left it there until April. Snow and ice was a bitch for someone from south La.

Now I’m in L.A. I need travel with a .44

It only took me one time running into a solid rain wall, hydroplaning, doing a 360 in a 2wd to convince me 4x4 was a million times better during a supersoaker gulley washer.
