Keeps cool just fine, and it shuts off, it’s just back on after 10 minutes or so

Thats what I do.

AC guy told me not to move it with all this heat, because it can't properly cool back down. Said I'm paying more to raise it to 76 when I leave and drop it back down in the evening. So I leave mine on 72 year round. Drop it to 70 at night.

I've found this not to be the case....with my current schedule my AC runs about 15 hours per day....at 73 full time it was on 20+ hrs a day during the heat of summer.

I have 3 and get it as cold as I want.
My utility bill for June was $171.00. Happy as a lark.

Water is a good heat conductor. Also cooling down the ambient temp surrounding the condenser coils. Most people see a 5-10 degree drop when doing this. But it has to be on a timer and most people put in a air flap valve that makes the mist come on only when the condenser fan comes on.

4850 square feet keep house 73 day 71 night electric bill was right at $250 last month. Whole house dehumidifier best investment I ever made, already paid for itself. Also used spray insulation and aluminun clad casement windows which help.

Why waste time, say lot word when few word do trick

don't ever do this for long periods, the minerals in the water can eat up/clog up the coil

Dropped $350 on a freon charge and weekend service call because my house was hitting 80 with the thermostat set to 69. It worked but he said compressor is banging when shutting off and probably failing. Fun times, I hate this time of the year.

Mine will put it on 67 when she's hot and wrap up in a blanket. She pays the bills too I guess so I don't really care.

I need to build some insulated attic stairway covers. I have 3 freaking attic stairways inside my house.

The insulated tent-like covers that are sold at HD and others work well, takes like 30 seconds to cover the attic opening.

Have 2 3-ton units, 1 upstairs, 1 down, and a low pitched roof that suckssss. Had some more returns installed a few years ago, that has really helped. 76 upstairs during the day, 73 at night, keep downstairs at 74 constant, plus ceiling fans. If it gets up to 90 or more upstairs will run continuously for 3-4 hours upstairs. Electric bill was $198 for June.

Truck just started showing a small Freon leak. Requires recharging every 2 weeks.

One of the home ac units just stopped working. Thank god it is for the seldom used rooms upstairs

Obviously not enough info to diagnose your system but some newer units are scroll compressors and rattle in shutdown is common.

My 6 yr old trane with a scroll compressor (“climatuff” brand name) has rattled on shutdown since day one.

Hope this helps

Getting a new evaporator coil due to a leak under warranty on a 6 year old Trane XR16.
Of course that is still an $1100 repair out of pocket.
Been diligent on cleaning coils and changing filters and bummed the newish equipment is failing.

I just replaced the evap coil on my upstairs unit (Lennox) 2 months ago, $800 in just labor. Now the condenser coil is leaking in the fins and has to be replaced. 5 y/o unit

Almost impossible to design an AC system to cool more than 20 degrees of whatever it is outside particularly with high humidity.

That's not true at all. Esp. in commercial applications.
