Runs nonstop come noon and its 95+ outside. Too big of an old house for the unit plus too many windows and too poorly insulated.

Keeps cool just fine, and it shuts off, it’s just back on after 10 minutes or so.

Oh, that's pretty normal with the heat. If it wasn't keeping temp, it would be an issue.

Both of mine last year would run constantly yet never get to temp until the sun went down. If I cooked, the temp would rise. Had to replace both units and now it's fine. Had a couple months of absurd power bills to make me call and get it fixed.

I keep mine at 74, and run a dehumidifier. It's comfortable especially if you walk in from outside and with fans on. The afternoon sun is brutal on the backside of my house, so about 2-3 you can definitely feel it.

The dehumidifier has been game changer on days when it's really humid, amazing how much water it will pull out of the air.

Bet you’re pleasantly surprised with your new utility bills.

I find this hard to believe.

It is! The size of the unit, insulation, cubic ft of space, and outside temp.

I think they are referring to the temp of the air exiting the register into the room in relation to the temp of air entering the return filter.

Reading this thread, some of you mother frickers need to get your thermostats calibrated. There’s not a person on earth who is comfortable at 80 degrees to sleep

My ac is a 3 zone unit and some of the vents and one of the thermostats are in the wrong place, but I’ve figured out the sweet spot on each zone to keep the house near 68 at night, turn up to 70 in daytime

I put mine at 72 to sleep and 75 when we're at work. Inside of my truck was 112 a lil while ago. This heat is just stupid.

Yeah, it's 69 in my room with a ceiling fan and a floor fan. 80 is insanity.

We are usually about the same. Maybe 69 rather than 67. My wife likes it colder than i do.

Biggest wear & tear on the AC is when it starts up.

Mine should last forever.

Since this thread was started it shut off once for about an hour. It is back and rolling now, and with the kids over at a friends in the neighborhood we are about to start the little kid Choo Choo train coming in and out of the house. it probably won't shut down again until the evening.

Getting a new evaporator coil due to a leak under warranty on a 6 year old Trane XR16.

Of course that is still an $1100 repair out of pocket.

Been diligent on cleaning coils and changing filters and bummed the newish equipment is failing.

You need Freon

Dropped $500 today on a capacitor and Freon.

Almost impossible to design an AC system to cool more than 20 degrees of whatever it is outside particularly with high humidity.

nah man, you are thinking of the difference between the intake of the ac vs the output at the duct. it should be between 15-20 degrees difference.
