Those yellow and red bands training over us in Bay and Jackson County. Had 5 inches of rain overnight and it's been raining moderately heavy all day. At least there's no wind...yet....

Not legit I don’t see any sharks swimming on that flooded Tampa road
They're all staging to get in the tornados once Helene makes landfall. Have your chainsaw ready.

Well that's good news
Its a trade-off. Max winds are lower but high end TS and Cat 1 hurricane are far more widespread than people will be used to.

Anybody else remember this post from Wakullatiger on Tuesday.
Wakulla is the county of the projected landfall, but he's evacuated.
Wakullatiger - if you are still here reading but just not posting, we feel for you man. Looks like you will get it bad from wind for sure and the surge depends how close the center tracks to Wakulla.
As of the latest advisory, the center of the cone at the coastline is about 10 miles east of you. That is close but on the 'good' side to not get the full onshore surge. It will be more of surge from the forward motion of the storm which will be faster than normal for a hurricane. Also with the large eye - as of now - you would not get as much of a south to north push of water and wind if the center tracks east of you.
Hoping for the best for you and everyone that will be impacted.

I’m in Wakulla county and we now have a mandatory evacuation for the entire county. Looks to be where landfall is. Definitely concerned for us and eastern Franklin county.

One of the images from the coast that has stuck with me all these years is a Waffle House in front of the mall in Biloxi...literally all that was left was the counter stools. Everything else was just bare concrete. Glad you got them out!

And they were still serving a limited menu.

Good Lord. The power of these storms is crazy.

I want the name of the contractor that installed those stools as well as the stool manufacturer.... those things are legit.

The eye contracted 15 nautical miles since the last pass, sign that it should start really strengthening.

If I were the stool manufacturer I’d have that picture on the front of my catalog.

That part of Bayshore floods like that pretty regularly. I used to go on a canoe on it every storm that came through. Also it’s wide, but definitely not one of the largest roads in Tampa. Benny is also a guy who just moved to Tampa so I understand why he thinks it’s crazy, but it’s definitely nothing special.
