At this point I think Jeff believed that bridge was his safety valve. Right now every option is dicey.

For example the HWY 11 bridge on the lake Pontchartrain came away in relatively good shape compared to the I-10 bridge (twin span) because it was tied down to the supports. Dont know the engineering terms.

That's what I'm saying the bridge is 2 miles and to try at night is really putting their lives at risk. Best option is that shopping center.

From Rockport, TX headed NE.

And even if the main span is good, the approach might be washed out, it's right on the water.

I see it now - looks like that heads into Lamar. There aren't any good options here. If you start crossing the bridge and get stuck, it's almost certain death.

Surge won't be bad enough with this storm to surge out the bridge. It would be fine.. Just might be impossible to get to it with debris.

There are two bridges out of Rockport. I'm guessing 35 is fricked. He needs to head for the shorter bridge on 188.
