I think they felt the edge of the eye wall they caught was going to be a bit further north towards Lamar, and then the storm shifted west more and went over Rockport.

Granted he has not shown great choices of places to stop, both the gas station and this car wash, both with roof structures that are usually the first to go in hurricanes.

Copano Causeway, they just finished the whole new bridge and took out the old one, took probably 4 years to do.

Remember how the twin spans (I-10 over Pontchartrain upstream from the Rigolets) and how they fell apart. Really terrible the way those failed (similar to the failure on Perdido Bay.
