You can go to Italy 20 times and never come close to scratching the surface or revisiting places and regions.

Yeah, I totally agree and undestand that. I selfishly want more countries, it's stupid

The Moorish castle was cool as well, but i would have had a heart attack if my two kids were with me on that. You can walk anywhere you want there, and there were several places where you're walking on these steps that were only big enough for one person, yet there's people going up and down those steps, and the sides are barely even knee high, and if you go over them, you die. There's no way someone hasn't accidently died there goign over the edge.

The castle was great, but it did feel a a little unsafe. My wife was freaking when we were walking on those narrows sections with the kids.
add this guy on Whatsapp, he was fantastic - Lisbon Tuk Tuk Experience

Yes, Lisbon was great - we stayed 3 nights which was plenty for us with the kids. We did a tuk tuk tour, which was awesome. I can make a recommendation of a tour guide if you are interested...native Portguese guy who was great.

Also, Sintra was a fantastic day trip, Pena Palace is great.

We did not go to Cascais as we had already been at the beach, but I've heard it's fantastic.

Dining - Bonjardim was great. Castro was the best pastal de nata

I was going to suggest Italy.
Rome and the Amalfi Coast would be good.

Or Rome, Florence and Venice.

I really want to take my girls to Italy, but my wife and I went to Italy in 2012, so I am kinda leaning to a place that's new for me also - but I haven't ruled it out.

Same here. We had to cross paths at some point.
We flew into Madrid, then did Porto for a week (work), then Lisbon/Sintra, Seville, Cadiz/Tarifa, Marbella/Malaga, Setenil/Ronda, and back out from Seville.

Setenil and Ronda were such an awesome day trip, as was Sintra. The beach in Tarifa was such a spectacular view.

Dang, should have met up. I was the one who's daugthers were eating cheese and pizza at every meal.

We did a day trip to Sintra and Cordoba, both were awesome.

Just returned from Spain / Portugal

Just got back from an incredible 2-week trip to Spain and Portugal with my wife and our two kids (ages 5 and 11), and it was absolutely magical. We flew into Madrid and made our way through Granada, Seville, Lagos, and Lisbon. The food was amazing, the kids had a blast, and overall it was a great mix of culture, scenery, and family-friendly activities. Bonus: it was pretty budget-friendly.

Last summer, we did London - Ghent - Paris, which we loved, but honestly, this year might have topped it.

Looking ahead to next summer, any suggestions for a similar type of trip? We’re looking for a good blend of interesting cities/towns, fun for the kids, great local food, and ideally not too pricey for dining or lodging. Would love to hear where you'd go next.

Looking hard at Prague / Austria / Slovenia?
Had 2 political conversations in Portugal, both were net positive on Trump - one with a Tuk Tuk Operator the other a Porteguese native uber driver.

We didn't realize Alahabmra tickets were so hard to get, any tips for early June? The 3rd party sites are suspect.

Portugal - Algarve

We’re staying in Lagos in early June for 3 nights (traveling from Seville to Lisbon) with our two kids (ages 5 and 11). We’d love to spend time on the beaches, do some kayaking, and just soak in the coast.

Of course, Benagil Cave looks incredible – but we’re wondering if it’s worth doing a kayak tour there, given it’s a 40-minute cab ride from Lagos. Would that be too much of a hassle with the kids? Or would it make more sense to kayak locally around Ponta da Piedade, which is much closer to where we’re staying?

We’re also considering doing a boat trip to see Benagil instead, and saving the paddling for Lagos. Has anyone done both and can compare?

Open to other activity recommendations too – especially anything fun and low-stress with young kids.
I just flew back to CLT from PUJ and made it through customs and to my shuttle in probably 10 minutes. It was the easiest it's ever been.

You are right next to the cathedral, so you will be in the heart of the action.

There are several cafes along calle Mateos Gago. We ate some great tapas outside and people watched from Taberna Belmonte

The Alcazar and Cathedral are must-dos. We enjoyed the tour of the bullring, only took about 45 mins. We watched a flamenco show at La Casa de Flamenco, and it was excellent. There is a cool store next door called Orange Tree that has a lot of chocolates, cookies etc made with Seville oranges.

You must go to El Comercio to try a churro and chocolate. It is heavenly

Thank you, adding to my list now!

We are planning Madrid to Granada to Sevilla, but were planning train the whole way. I was under the impression it was a reasonable train tride from Granada to Sevilla, should I reconsider this?

Great info, thanks. We are going (wife + 2 girls, 11 and 5) in June for 15 days - Madrid - Sevilla - Grenada - Algarave - Lisbon.

For the trip from Sevilla to Grenada, is it easier to rent a car than just take the train?

It's as hot as anywhere - I'd still go. I live in Columbia, so its only a 2 hour drive - but the wife and I go almost monthly for a night away when the grandparents are up for a night with the kids.

It's a great weekend getaway.

Thanks man

I had been on “the list” and wanted it for my 40th. Made friends with an AD years ago and he came through! It was tough to stomach, but obviously couldn’t say no
