In 1991, $18k. My rent was $550. All was well.
My husband graduated in 1992 with a job paying $21000 and freelance income of about $10k. Our rent on a 3 BR was $650.

Chemical Engineering graduate in 1974. Starting salary was $15K/yr.

In 2001, E-3 in the Army, PFC, monthly base pay of $1,214.70 on my DFAS paystubs. Plus $975/month BAH while stationed at Wainwright, when my ex-wife and I lived in Fairbanks.
