I have bought my last three cars in either Texas or Mississippi. I haven’t had an inspection sticker in 8 years. It’s my own little way to rebel.

Huh? Your license plate links to a database with your registration and insurance information.
The QR code would.. link to a database with your registration and insurance information.
What exactly is the difference other than an officer having to punch in the plate #?
quote:
Why do the police ask for your registration then?
Mostly because the law requires you to present it when they ask. Do you really think they can’t pull up the same information from your plate number?
quote:
So do you keep your registration in your car?
If so why aren’t you making a big deal about that?
This sticker becomes the registration
Where does anything say that the sticker replaces the requirement to carry a paper registration?

I do carry a cell phone though, and as crazy as it sounds for some of you who still live in 1995, it is able to store and provide all of that information.
You would willingly hand over an unlocked computer containing all of your personal information (historical and present) to a random cop??? You deserve anything that comes your way as a result.

You're under the impression that inspection stickers are keeping pieces of shite off the road???

The $6 solution (which will be $30 in a few yrs) will be more intrusive. Conservatism

The problem (as I understand it) is that even if they drop the state inspection requirement, the emission testing is an EPA mandate. I don’t think the state can do anything about that. At least it would be better for folks that don’t live in/around BR.
I did a little digging. In 2016 the State/LDEQ requested redesignation from EPA from non-attainment to attainment status. EPA approved and published the decision in March 2017.
quote:
Baton Rouge, Dec 15, 2016 - Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency re-designated the Greater Baton Rouge Nonattainment Area (BRNA) to attainment for the 2008 8-hour ozone standard. The state of Louisiana submitted a request for EPA to re-designate the BRNA to attainment status and to approve a State Implementation Plan (SIP) revision containing a maintenance plan for the area. This is another milestone in Louisiana’s continuing effort to improve air quality.
quote:
EPA also approved the state’s 10-year plan for maintaining attainment of the 2008 8-hour ozone standard in the area and determined that the BRNA continues to attain the 2008 8-hour ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standard and has met the criteria for re-designation to attainment.
LINK
I'm trying to find the plan now. But it looks like the area should be in the clear starting? 2027; as the 2016 decision included a 10-year maintenance plan.

If I have 2 QR codes on my ride, how will they know which one is my Cash App one?

Would this eliminate brake tags in Orleans?
Posted on 3/10/26 at 8:57 am to BurningHeart
why? We already have an easy to scan unique identifier, it's called a license plate.
The qr code thing makes zero sense.

Are the Sheriffs' gonna come out as hard on this one as they do on efforts to legalize/loosen restrictions on marijuana?

The head maintenance man at a friend's condo complex has a relative at the DMV. In getting the friend an illegal tag, the relative showed him a large stack of blank tags. He was selling them, absent any "inspection". And has been doing so for years. As for a lack of enforcement, there seems to be an inordinate number of traffic "stops " all around the LSU area. And, , safe to presume , aimed at the thousands of students living & driving in those areas.

The law literally states the cop can’t take your phone if you’re using it for LAWallet and similar.

My brake tag has been expired for 2 years. I probably should get a new one, but I don't feel like it.
