re: Gotta put my dog down I’m a wreck

My eldest female is having trouble in her back end but still is excited come feeding time and likes being in the sun and rolling in the grass. When this joy is no longer in her daily life, then I will think about it. She does snore like a freight train, passes gas, and sleeps about 90% of the time.

Brother, I just put mine down last Friday morning after 12yrs by my side. I was a fricking wreck leading up to it, walking into the vet, and during the euthanasia process. I cried a LOT, but I will tell you that almost immediately afterwards, I found peace in my decision and peace knowing that the suffering was done. The hardest part is leading up to it, but its MUCH better and honestly a big relief in a way once it's completed. A week has gone by and I think about him and smile.

Baw there is no easy way to do this other than you have to be strong for your human and canine family, they are counting on you. Sometimes being strong now and being sad later is the best way to do this.

Take her to the vet, stay in the room for the entire process. Be strong for the pup and for the family. Keep it boxed up for now.

Once you get out of the building, rip a cig if you need.

Put the kids to bed and feel free to have a couple Jack Daniels and be really upset. My girl dog was minorly sick last few days and it scares the heck out of me. I've had boy dogs most of my life and loved all them, and yet this sweet girl might be my favorite ever. She is nuts about me and my family. Happy to see us every time we walk into the room or even glance at her.

I am so sorry. Saying goodbye to our furry friends is so painful. I will say a prayer for your courage and comfort.
