Ok pal. Keep believing that. Old admins would have pushed back launch as far as possible or even scrubbed this mission completely. He's pushed the teams to work harder, faster, including the program partners. If you don't know anything, stay quiet.

I’m beyond pissed I didn’t get to see it lift off. At least it’s just a flyby mission and not the real one.

It was a black screen after ignition and then the feed came back and the camera man was drunk and dropped the camera and had to lift up the lens and find the rocket.

Goosebumps and minor cut up onions over here. This thing is awesome.

It's truly absurd that they did this shite in the 60s.

We take for granted how efficient SpaceX is at doing this.

Whatever. I've seen how much better the shuttle flies in space in Armageddon.

What's the difference between sending the butt plug up as opposed to a shuttle?

The butt plug design is for deep space.

SpaceX accounts for that as part of the development process. Their willingness to fail is why they've done in 10 years what took NASA 60.

Is this thing like a shuttle and they just fly it back, or is it just on a trajectory the entire time and falls back to Earth?

It’ll be like Apollo. Right now most of life support and power is on a side module that will be jettisoned before reentry.

It’ll “land” off the Pacific coast and be recovered by the Navy.

It’s actually a decent step back from capability and functionality from the shuttle honestly. Most of the shuttle’s size was for a cavernous cargo bay that can carry things to put in orbit. Or even pick it up and return to earth (although I dunno if that ability was ever used). It also had a massive robotic arm to move things around.

It was the workhorse that made building the space station possible.

Orion is just a cramped coffin that you just sit in.

330 cubic feet of space for 4 people vs 2600 for seven.

Even the shuttle was fairly cramped but that’s luxurious by comparison.

Wasn't under the impression of anything. I just didn't know the differences between the two.

I understand they fly them, but I didn't realize why or when they use one or the other.

I guess the way I asked about trajectory through off my question a little.

Yeah, I miss the onboard camera view from the SpaceX launches.

Prob dont have cameras because they dont want anyone to see the ice wall.

Not gonna lie, this gives me claustrophobia. And I'm not usually bothered by that. That's crazy cramped.
