Who wants to drive some shitty electric Ford?
Even my wife (no pics), who is not a car aficionado, noticed an EV Mustang and said, “That’s not a Mustang. And that looks terrible.”
Out of the mouths of babes.
Hi honey!

Cargo shorts and graphic tees have nothing to do with EV’s. Actually, it might
True, but GDI was implemented to improve gas mileage, so it’s part of the same initiative. And cargo pants suck and my tee shirts are plain.

so, people really don't want EVs?
Unless our tax dollars pay them to buy them.

Instead it'll let the free market work like it's supposed to.
If only. Can we stop the oil subsidies as well?

Let's not get foolish.

If that is the case, it wasn't real to begin with.

I don't think any auto manufacturers are doing well with their EV vehicles. Some have more or less abandoned the projects
Good. That’s what they get for not listening to the market and trying to shove EVs down everyone’s throat.

No, we only want to end consumer facing subsidies.

They drank the Kool aid that was the Democrat agenda and assumed it would be the case for years to come.
They were wrong and now they get to pay the piper.

While he still sees EVs being a “vibrant industry” going forward
And he would be dead wrong. In the last 3-4 years, Opel, Volvo, Volkswagen, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, to name a few, have all slashed they future EV budgets (if they didn’t cancel them altogether) and some have even significantly reduced their Hybrid lines.
The industry was promised solid state batteries for a long time but have yet to see them.
Nevermind the battery industry is no different than the old “blood diamond” industry. And guess what?? Those toxic chemicals are taken from the same places those diamonds were. Some things never change.

You see, that’s the rub. Why is the Ford CEO the one acting like this is news??
Remember when?? While GM and Jeep/Chrysler were sitting there crying for money (and took every dollar offered), it was Ford who, while they attended, never took a dime. Their European market was strong.

Until rapid charging has reached a point where it can be done in the same time as it takes to fill up at the tank, AND chargers are as ubiquitous as gas stations, EV’s have pretty much hit their ceiling on market share.
Maybe. But Tesla is incredibly impressive in all of this. They make a product that stands on its own. The government subsidies will ultimately make them a force for the foreseeable future, as they will essentially have a EV “gas station” monopoly. People also don’t seem to fully accept they can get fuel basically anywhere you stop.
I just got a used one and have been very impressed. A daily 100 mile round trip commute would be no problem at all if plugged into any outlet overnight. Super fun to drive, and for $100/ month it will manage traffic jams for you.
We still have two gas burners though. My driving is very variable, I wouldn’t be able to deal with not having at least one gas burner, mostly just for assurance purposes. They aren’t for everyone, but as far as EVs go Tesla has it going on.

Govt shouldn't be giving those breaks. If the manufacturer wants to, let them
Posted on 10/2/25 at 6:31 pm to weagle1999
I don't have a problem with this

The market is still OK in Europe but the Euro manufacturers are ceding the market to the Chinese which now have a significant part of the market and growing quickly. Europe makes up 60% of the Chinese export market.
Long term the Chinese are going to do with EVs what Japan did with the small displacement small car in the 70s. "We" hated those small cars then but thats how we ended up with the juggernaut that is Toyota. Even so you can't just look at the domestic market you have to think international and bringing revenue here from foreign markets. SC and Spartanburg County gave lots of incentives to BMW no ~30 years later BMW is the largest (by value) exporter of cars in the US.
