But the growth in Ponchatoula, especially eastside / Bedico area along Hwy 22 is insane.

These are way closer than I thought. Baton Rouge metro could potentially overtake New Orleans metro in our lifetimes....
I bet if you remove Metairie from the mix the decline in New Orleans is much worse.

Metro area is misleading....as you can have outflow from a rotten core city to the burbs and have small growth. Montgomery AL is an example of this.
Montgomery’s estimated population decline of 1,657 was the largest drop among Alabama cities and compares to a decline of 695 in Mobile and 243 in Birmingham.
That allowed Birmingham to return to No. 2 in population among Alabama cities.
Huntsville continues to move farther into the lead, with a population now topping 225,000.
That's right...Huntsville is the largest city in AL by pop, but B-ham is the largest in terms of metro pop.

It's crazy to me that Greenville, SC is bigger than New Orleans, metro-wise.
Politics and quality of life matters. Not a surprise to me. When the Saints move will be the wake up call to the region how much it is a failed city.

see there was this thing that happened in 2020 that a lot of people left the area for......some storm named Laura....heard it was a doozie
in all seriousness...that is why LC is so low. That and many of the huge projects wrapped up about that time. But most of those that left, couldn't afford to rebuild so it was overall a net gain for the area to lose those people.

How the hell isn't Prairieville/Gonzales or Denham Springs/Watson/Juban not on that list? Those areas have had over 20% growth. Suprised BR was still in the positive since St. George was founded. List is shite.
Just stop posting, please.

Can confirm. Live on the Eastern Shore, and yes… it’s getting crowded… but a % of those are just coming from across the Bay …

I'm surprised Houma-Bayou Cane- Thibodaux isn't a steeper drop off I would have guessed 15% down since Ida.

Literally nobody said that. Lafayette's growth slowed down because it's main industry basically got cut in half. A lot of people still move here though because it's the only decent sized town in Louisiana that isn't a ghetto shi*thole.

Louisiana really needs to invest in it's social studies curriculum. The amount of dipshite takes on here related to history, geography, and economics is astounding. Not really a shock why this state is in such bad shape.
