I would like to see us get Jordan Seaton and Nick Brooks and solidify our OL.

You are correct but these type of arguments are made for meme land and so people are going to look at a chart and not think about the actual economic principles at play.

This issue is going to be the issue that will in the future be seen to be the issue that broke the MAGA movement and prevented it from achieving most of its goals.
MAGA is going to fail, mostly if not totally. A huge part of the reason is that it's base is focused on a dead guy conspiracy and chem trail madness.

If this is a dig on the right then I don't think you are seeing 1/2 the problem.
Progressive have no more concern for the US Constitution when they are in power than the Soviet's did for their own when the USSR existed. Alternative culture started before Bush. If you want to put a real starting point, it would be the black flag protest in Seattle in WTO in 1999.
I'd also say that this fight today is for the first time really a fight between two sides that sadly both think "might makes right." The Dem have long been about government being used, in a way the constitution never foresaw, to push ideology, right down to the US Federal Gov telling you what sort of oven you can use or what type of blinds you can put in your window.
Trump has no problem, because he's not a real conservative, in using the power of the state to force his agenda. That's new on the right. For the last 40 years or more the GOP have been glad handing country club get-along types who do little when in power.
I'd rather we return to a weak Federal Gov., focused on national defense and leave most of the issues to the states, as the Constitution seemed to support.

MagaF would rather spew Jew hate and eat conspiracy theories than focus on what it takes to win a national election without Trump on the ballot.
I predict we'll have very low turnout from the MagaF base and a lot of moderates are going to sit home too or vote Dem.
It's going to be a slaughter and Trumps going to spend the last two years of his final term being impeached and trying to circumvent a pissed off congress, which may include the Senate being Dem too.
The right are actually more ideological diverse than the left, they don't march in lock step and they will pay for this on Election day.
The upside to a big Dem win this year is that the next election will be one where the Dems are seen as being in power and thus will own a lot of the problems. I predict the next GOP POTUS candidate to be a moderate and the MAGAF base will slink back to whatever they were doing prior to 2016.

I believe this synagogue was bombed back in the 60s. The sad thing is that the antisemitism today was just under the surface for so long and it was let out on both sides in the name of politics. You'd think we'd turn a corner as a species but it seems not.
re: Minnesota- what went wrong?
Posted by hansenthered1 on 1/10/26 at 10:37 am to RandySavage
I lived there 10 years ago...it was very very leftwing. The difference was that it was still culturally Christian in the suburbs and this moderate conservativism balanced the metro and the state in general as the metro dominates the state when it comes to politics.
The far left core of MSP consist of secular progressives who are mostly a byproduct of the university culture. The U of M is in Minneapolis, they have a tons of universities in the metro and they have long had high populations of immigrants being settled en masse by the state department going way back, to the 1970s, due to their being a lot of social services there. Over time this network of nonprofits, university grads and enclaves of immigrants who were not assimilating melded into a coalition that became increasingly further and further leftwing. To the point, moderate liberals did not really feel at home and moved out to the suburbs. Once they turned blue, starting around 2012 but rally flipping hard in 2018 the place was destined to become what it is now, a far left machine powered on white guilt, hate and privilege.

Trump boys don't care. They have not loyalty to anything but the man Trump. Ideas mean shite to them.
They are going to fade quick when he's gone and their kingdom will be undone in weeks.
Trump is no conservative by any stretch. He's a rightwing socialist.

His Screwtape Letters story is perhaps the best to explain human thinking of what is going on now.

The fact they were joyfully interfering with a legal police action is beside the points. She clearly gunned it and drove at the officer. Sad she had to die but this is what you get when you have the interactional privilege of progressive activist and politically charged rhetoric of progressive officials and people.
She thought she was dealing with the Minneapolis police who are trained to let these type of actions go. She forgot that she was beyond the rule of law.

All of these states, the citizens are de facto slaves of the Government.

I lived there for over 5 years. It was great in many ways, the place was wealthy. I'm from MS so things looked nice to me and there was a lot of good food. It's very nice in the summer and if you like cold weather it's got a good winter for you.
That being said, the only people who were nice and easy to meet were not from there. The locals were all white guilt far far far leftwing and they seem to be either very depressed sort or very mad or a combo. They seemed to hate their own selves so much but at the same time they hated the moderate conservatives who make up the rest of the state and were driven by what is now woke norms way before that term came to be.
I left because it was getting crazy even before Floyd. I feel bad for a lot of the folks there who are trying to be normal but it's like the worst progressive types have taken over and have full control and know it. No one can do much without fear of the prog mob and the city will never rein them in.
I say let it burn! MN will be better off with a restart of MSP

It may be they are in a stronger place after the dust settles from Maduro being captured. If we can't enforce our will politically there, they'll no doubt double their efforts to establish security guarantees from both the CCP and Russia.

The potential for this thing to spin out of control is huge. I hope not, I hope we can get things settled quickly and exit quickly. Nothing I like more than to see a socialist dictatorship go down. However, NO American wants another war of occupation with no end in sight. Remember, the Bush admin thought they could topple Saddam and be out quickly, things did not go as planned.
I know the Trump cult members think he's a god-man, but the reality is, he's saying he's going to run things in Venezuela doesn't mean he is or has the ability to project his will there. Winning a single battle is not the same as winning a war. A special operations mission is not the same thing as a long term campaign.
The reality is the VP Venezuela seems to be not bowing to Trump, things don't seem to be materializing that we'll quickly put in the recently elected but suppressed opposition. All talk is of who Trump will run things there without no specifics as to how. We'll see...
Meanwhile a good chunk of the country is starting to ask questions about war powers. Even Bush did not unilaterally invade Iraq, and that's what this was even if for just a limited objective. If things turn ugly you can expect this to burn into the midterms and if the GOP goes down you can expect Trump to face the music with the next congress.
A lot is a stake, Trump may have just done something truly awesome or he may have stepped in it. Time will tell. Sorry Trump fan-boys, your joy today may be denial and loss tomorrow. Time will tell. :usa:

What are the odds a US Federal Judge orders Maduro released?
Posted by hansenthered1 on 1/3/26 at 10:56 am
Don't get me wrong, I am glad his was taken out. One socialist sworn in on the same day one was drug out of power. IMO, the only good marxist is a dead one. But, we've seen our black robed super citizens, who have the power of all three branches in one unelected person do some crazy things. They've called for the release of violent illegal aliens. What are the odds they step in and demand Trump turn over Maduro to some other source, the UN for example, or demand he be released pending some legal dispute?
