We can feed all 4 members of my family with a Jersey Mike’s Giant sub. Of course the sub we order is 2000 calories if you consume the entire thing.

Okay, I’m curious how old are your kids and how small are you and your wife?

I don’t eat stuff like this for dinner because I could easily consume the whole sandwich in a sitting without even realizing I just ate my recommended daily caloric intake.

No one in the house is close to 200lbs. My kids are 18 and 20.

A 500 calorie sandwich is a lot of food when combined with a side of some kind (fruit/chips/whatever).

Not us. We don’t eat it often, I don’t eat Subway or really any other sandwich place but Jersey Mikes. It’s a big fricking sandwich. Thing feels like it weighs several pounds

If McDonald's Corp made $14 billion profit that means those franchise owners are paying them a lot

McDonald’s Corporate runs on a percentage of sales and leasing of property so any fool with a calculator will see as prices rise so will the royalty payments to Ronald McDonald and their shareholders. Now the corporate office is more than free to lower to royalty payments to a more equitable position where in a high labor cost state the royalty percentage is less than other states to make the royalties more even.

2 things to add:

1) In-and-Out in California still sells cheaper meals than the competition, has far better quality, and pays higher wages

2) Canes pricing has become criminal. You fat asses are funding Todd’s collection of celebs.

Food is high but it doesn't seem to matter.

Krab Kingz and an Oyster Food truck come to town once a week, and there is a long line every time. I know most on line, and most don't have jobs.

Why is this a big deal? It’s not your electric bill, it’s fast food.

A company like McDonalds should charge whatever they can get away with charging.

if corporate greed makes prices too high, people will stop going and the company will have to adjust or die.

If it’s the governments fault (min wage, etc.), it’s not the company’s fault they have to raise prices.

Criminally outpaced their go to excuses of inflation?
Really?
Weren't their "go to excuses of inflation" politicians doing political things?

California Loses Nearly 10,000 Fast-Food Jobs After $20 Minimum Wage Signed Last Fall

Last September, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed California Assembly Bill 1287 into law, which includes a $20 per hour minimum wage for fast-food workers and a fast-food regulatory council which has the authority to raise the industry’s minimum wage annually. But between last fall and January, California fast-food restaurants cut about 9,500 jobs, representing a 1.3 percent change from September 2023.

I got my kids each a single scoop of ice cream from a local shop this past Sunday. It was $13 before tip.

Predictable side effect of every fast food worker wanting $20/hour. Money has to come from somewhere and that somewhere is the consumer.

This has always been the laziest of explanations. It's a factor but not the only factor. Most of these companies are very large companies and the money that goes into marketing and executive pay is substantial. They aren't raising prices only because of the wages of front line workers. That's just one variable. And in most markets these people aren't making 20/hr.

Restaurants charge what the market will bear. And the latest projections are a record year in sales and profits, after a record year in 2023.

As far as minimum wage increases, most of that (not all) has been restaurant decisions and not legislation. Due to labor shortages. Texas hasn’t passed minimum wage legislation but McD’s is paying 2 or 3x what they did 10 years ago.

Just stop eating that garbage. None of it is good for you and it’s way overpriced.

I pride myself on not having had fast food in three years now.

Chick fil a is especially garbage. They had to raise their prices so they could pay for that new DEI director. I also see the most ghetto people at the one on Poydras street.

Since we are sharing food prices.

Took family for pizza last Saturday. Fellini’s in Atlanta.

Large Pie, 2 toppings (2 large slices each). 3 Sodas, 2 draft beers. 48 dollars including tip.

I first ate there as a teen, 30+ years ago. Pizza was $1 a slice.

I don't like Biden, but even more than him, I don't like the morbidly obese population that these fast food companies helped to create. Anything that slows down people eating this crap on a regular basis is a good thing....

On a side note, I went to Panda Express the other day and spent $12.20 total on a 3 entree plate: fried rice and 3 entrees (chicken). This was in Georgia and it's probably the best fast food deal going. Not sure why their prices haven't gone up to much.

Someone relies on the horseshite inflation stats from the government.

Someone is also ignoring the insane state minimum wage laws that have passed in the last few years.

Subway catches a lot of crap, but the local 1 is pretty good here.

I have a 1st cousin that married the owner of my nearest Subway, Zaxby, and another FF joint all about 1.5 miles away. Only tried the Subway but the owners run a tight ship. Place is always neat, clean, tidy, and pretty good at what they do. Of course there's a reason, in the personnel hired, but not gonna say the obvious.
