it’s that there always seems to be things that appear pretty illegal that an employer can technically get away with so maybe there’s more to it than what your eye sees
Maybe discovery would show that but on its face two similarly situated applicants received disparate treatment under the requisite “nearly identical circumstances.” See Carter v. Transportation Workers of America local 556.
The only thing between the applicants was the racial identification
File an eeoc charge and then a title VII suit. You have enough to make out a prima facie case.
1. Member of a protected class (anyone)
2.qualified for the position
3. Despite your qualifications, you were not selected
4. The employer continued to hold the job open.
The employer will now have to articulate a legitimate non discriminatory reason why it selected you when the only thing that changed was the race box that you checked.

Dallas County, AL has seen a similar demographic shift.
No it hasn’t. It looks just like it has been since the 1850s

Clayton was always crummy, kind of like Kenner. It was never meant to be a high end area.
Kennedy was also instrumental in banning commonly available refrigerants. Why?
Because DuPont chemical lobbied him to so DuPont could maintain an exclusive patent on the new “environmentally friendly” refrigerant which it manufactures in Louisiana.
It should come as no coincidence that this bill (the AIM act) was cosponsored by Tom Carper of Delaware—DuPont is headquartered in Delaware

Lakeside Toyota in Metairie beat everyone by a lot.
Agreed. We ended up with a Toyota just because Lakeside was a better dealer and didn’t play any games.
Royal Honda on veterans is appalling. I don’t know how those scam artists stay in business. $3000 markup on every vehicle (this is in 2025) and they won’t even tell you what the APR is for the financing, they just want you to sign.
Matt Bowers Hyundai was not much better.
The Mazda dealership was also crappy—“we don’t negotiate here”
Meanwhile Lakeside Toyota was ready, willing, and able to make a deal

How’d Hoover poop the bed? It was once following Vestavia’s footsteps?
The other guy nailed it. Apartments and high-density garbage (townhouses, rental communities etc) shoved in everywhere. All thanks to a city council that was probably paid off by some crooked developers. Now we can look forward to more apartments going where the galleria is. Eventually the apartments reach a critical mass and swallow up an area with the lovely folks they bring in. Everyone forgets New Orleans East was once like Hoover until the apartments went in.
Vestavia has notably taken a different tack by building liberty park. That’s been a runaway success story and does not have apartments.

Gardendale is on its way to becoming Center Point 2.0.
At the rate things are going, I’m giving Hoover about ten years before it becomes the next Center Point.

Did anyone ever consider that maybe the 120+ million foreigners that have poured into this country since 1965 have something to do with there not being enough housing?

Just got back. It’s extremely crowded. Made it on the Colombian one early but even at 7:55 there was a mile long line for the carrier. Not worth it lol.

Wrong. It’s a partisan gerrymander.

Can we ban apartments entirely?
