Not big. ~1600sqft. It's total electric and average bill over the last year is $135.

I set mine at 78. When it's above the mid 80s and into the 90s 78 feels cool

I set mine to 78 while at work. No one is home so why keep it cool?

When the authoritarian left wing government gets their way and has control over everyone's smart thermostats, including making them mandatory, this will no longer be a recommendation. It will be an edict

I believe this article is a bit dated (looks like June 2022). At the time of the article I believe natural gas prices were up quite a bit. With that said, we have seen prices come down this past year.

We have this thread at the beginning of every summer

And it’s as outrageous every single time you read the articles by whatever entity wrote it, in this case entergy

It’ll go 6-10 pages

If you run your AC at 78 deg in a newer, foam insulated house in south Louisiana you are guaranteed to have humidity and possibly mold issues. And you greatly increase that chance even in an older home. It just does not run long enough to "condition" the air.

Those of us who use shade cloth on our south facing windows and ceiling fans might object to turning thermostats down when we don't need to (and we don't still live on the Gulf Coast, sorry).

So, $36?

74° during the day. 69° at night. 78° if nobody’s home.
