When I ride past one, I hit them with the customary "on your left" and when they see I am 100% human powered, they invariably crank the throttle. Then it's on.

It’s embarrassing for them to get passed by someone pedaling. Then I’ll drop behind and keep pushing them until they run the battery out and have to pedal.

I almost hit some dumbass teenager on one the other day because he didnt even stop at a stop sign when i was running through it! I caught up with the dipshit and gave him a good talking to and he said he was there first so he had the “right way” but bikes ALWAYS yeild to motor vehicles. I told him i would just flatten him under my 40 inch tires on my truck next time and see how he likes it for not following the rules of the road. Embarased him in front on his ugly girlfriend so im thinking he will change his ways

They’re a massive problem in Los Angeles with young teenagers doing retarded stuff in traffic and harassing others.

One angry guy ran a kid down about a year ago near downtown.

Kids in our neighborhood all have them and they are a menace.
Tween girls ripping around on golf carts and middle school boys on e-dirt bikes…what bedlam is this?!?
Just a matter of time before one is killed or paralyzed. I pray I’m wrong.

Yes. Live in Wilmington, NC and kids form packs and buzz around everywhere. Adults ride them too, but with a purpose. Meaning, they have a surfboard or fishing rod strapped on and park at the beach access or pier.

When I'm out riding my E bike I notice that 90% of people on them aren't pedaling at all and just run the throttle.

Sounds fun

30 is nothing. 30 is borderline legal for a kid (I think our law is 25 and under if no license)

The problem is the nicer ones go much faster. 75 mph.

The police will impound those ones.

No they will not get banned when some kids die or grandma gets a brain injury unfortunately. Couple years ago there was a kid few towns up that (intentionally) crashed into an elderly man and it killed him. There’s been 2 or 3 kids die in our area in the past few months from accidents. Hell just this weekend at a little league game I saw a kid get hit on one crossing an intersection.

No laws will change. Parents will keep buying these for their kids.

Police aren’t allowed to pursue because it’s too dangerous to the ebiker. I was with a group that one of the husbands called the cops, the kid rode by and said frick you to the cop and drove away. He knows he can’t do shite

Not universally but I know of some HOAs in Florida that have banned them because of incidents.

Now they all have e-bikes and crossbows and ride them off trail to get to places once only the people willing to put in work could go.

There was a thread started on the OB a couple years ago by a retired leo that claimed they were a nusance and shouldn't be allowed on anything but motorized roads and trails. The OP "dropped a dime" on an ebiker, iirc. He was thoroughly made fun of and told mind his own business and that ebikes were a great tool and no big deal.

Might try to find and bump that thread to see if feelings are still the same.

Its worse as a hunter.

You used to be able to just hike further than all the olds and fatties.

I loathe them.

You hunt midwest public right? Same state as me if I remember correctly. I wish they'd ban them but until they do I'm not letting everybody else have a tool like that when I don't. Last year was the first year I used it and it was pretty much only useful for scouting. Everybody has ebikes up there so they all end up as far away from roads as possible on top of each other. I hunted close and saw piles of deer and zero people. Shot a big doe about 100 yards from my truck and a 145" buck about a quarter mile from it. I do get annoyed when some fat dude rides by me on one when I'm 1.5 miles in, though. I use the bike more on private than public.

Ole EF Hutton. Hopefully he's happy at Archery Talk.
