I think you can throw Hollywood in there too. There haven't been many really original movies in a while. Just remakes, knockoffs, and sequels of older stuff. Somehow the systems in place are favoring the same old crap and not allowing for new ideas or creativity. I think its the producers that area afraid to take a chance on something new, so they go the safe route and keep recycling the same junk.

While I agree that superhero movies and sequals are getting out of control, they make a shitload of money so why would studios not be making them.
There are still plenty of great movies made every year. Jojo Rabbit, Once upon a time in Hollywood, Parasite, The Lighthouse, The Irishmen, 1917, Knives Out, Ford V Ferrari all came out in the last year. People just like the complain that no good movies are made anymore when it's not true

ETA: modern country has sucked for a while. Whenever they decided to start making R&B songs with a twangy voice singing over it, that’s when it got truly unbearable
