The parallel in the decline of rap and country music is interesting to me. Seems like both started to really go down hill after the early to mid 2000s give or take a few years.
Seems like there used to be a at least a decent amount of authenticity to most the artists. Now we're left with bro country and mumble rap.

Simp will become a popular word here in about 6 months or so and be used regularly on this website for years to come. It’s the OT way.

The term "simp" has been around in Houston rap culture since the 90's and was most famously used by rapper Pimp C who described himself as being "a pimp, not a simp" on the song "Sippin on Some Syrup".

Somehow, I had already looked up the etymology of the word "simp" before I read this thread, and it is neither a Black term nor a recent invention. It's a long-standing part of the English language that does a good job of pointing out a real phenomenon.
