We used to say no pegging but I don’t think kids could use that term anymore lmao

We had one kid who ended up going to the minor leagues that used to throw that ball probably 70mph in 5th grade.
Bruh, I got nailed one time in the head and it was lights out, nap time.

And as someone on the receiving side of my fair share of red hots in empty lot baseball games I can attest to this being a thing
If the game rules didn't include "no red hots" I wasn't playing

that was the best part of kickball
Playing on blacktop scared a few kids when you "accidently" take a kid out at the knees and they get all busted up. It was the only place we could play at our school, so if you wanted to have enough to play you had to promise no red hots.
Before that, we just had a no head-hunting rule. Hit someone in the head with the ball, the teachers would stop the game instantly.

Yes they do. My son is 12. He and his friends play a lot of tennis baseball and I’ve heard them use the term. The 1st time I was caught off guard that they knew what that was.

Many baseball games in the street were played with just 5-6 people when you had pegging and ghost runners

This board is a million years old. Red Hots was definitely a widely known phrase for throwing the ball at the baserunner instead of tagging him growing up in the early 00's.

I was a kid in the early 00s...it was definitely called pegging or pegs...maybe just not a Louisiana thing to call it red hots
