I turned 21 in Pat O's and was probably still dumb enough to be drinking Hurricanes back then so that's what I'm going with. Had a Cohiba Behike that I was saving for the occasion as well.

I went to Raj because he promised me when I turned 21 he'd give me a gift with my purchase. I got koozies, a bottle opener keychain and hat with some whiskey brand's logo on it.

December 28,1999

The purchase was of many shots.

The night ended with my throwing up on the family dog. For those wondering, it was a little yorkie. He was a good boy.

I was 18 and legal in NOLA at PatO's. Was carded at the door with my pictureless driver license!

Six pack of Sam Adams I think. That was about the fanciest beer Alabama had in the early 90's. I think it had just hit the Alabama market.

I went out in Nola and no one carded me the whole night. Not even at the Winn Dixie. Anticlimactic.

How much did it cost? I remember flats of stones going for $7.99 when I first got to LSU.

The price went up from the time I was a freshman to the time I graduated. I remember a flat being $8.99 when I started college and legally purchasing a flat for the first time at $10.99.

ETA: Still a hell of a deal.

I'm old enough that "legal" in Louisiana was still 18. I'm sure I bought a beer.

eta: now that I think about it, I know what I bought and where I was. Fat City in Metairie at Gilligan's. My girlfriend and I went with some friends to play pool. She went in before me to tell the owner I was 18. I was a little pissed because I was looking forward to being carded. I ordered a pitcher of Bud Light for us.

2006, went to Brother's on Barataria and bought some whiskey and two Steel Reserve 40s. That was a couple months before the Brees' first Saints season kicked off.

Remember it vividly. Bought a 6-pack of Heineken from the Exxon on the corner of Staring and Highland (this was in 2005 so it was a 3-way intersection then). Me and my roommates downed the beers and went to the Gold Club. They let me in for free for my 21st birthday. The first and only time I've ever been to a strip club.

It was a 40 I bought from Raj. Oddly enough I bought one from him an hour before, just wanted to use my ID this time.

Went to Albertson's and wasn't even carded. Don't recall what the purchase was.

2011 or so I stopped at that gas station at 430 am on my way to work. The door was locked and I could see the gas station clerk laying on the counter asleep inside. I was pissed I couldn't get an energy drink.

Bought a bottle of liquor up in Fayetteville on my birthday and didn’t get carded. Was kinda upset.

I'm the opposite. My first liquor store purchase was at a drive thru in Fayetteville. Got carded. He looked at my id, looked at me, looked again. Said no way you're 21 but here . I also got accosted by ABC at River City (showing my age here) one night because they thought I had a fake id.

My first legal alcoholic beverage was a frozen strawberry daiquiri at Red Lobster in North Little Rock.

I bought a six pack of something dumb at Whole Foods that was basically a gag beer. It didn’t taste very good.

No, I had been buying years before.

Lot of people knew me as an older teen, a lot worked in stores or drive thru liquor stores and I got what I wanted pretty much all the time.

Tipping big helped too, so it all blends together. By the time i was 21, I was basically already over alcohol.
