Wife received her $40.08 check yesterday from a closed business.

I need to look for her aunt's death certificate to claim another $50 from God only knows what.

I had $3800!!!! From the state retirement system when I worked for the parish out of college in 2000. Unclaimed properties gave the state retirement system refund number to call in BR and nice fella answered and snail mailing me an application to get my refund.

I’ve got less than $25 but says I need proof of residence and I doubt I have anything lying around to prove I lived in my college apartment 20 years ago, lol.

Nothing. Not surprised. I keep my mind on my money and my money on my mind.

Started checking a couple of years ago and wife and I each had about $100 from LA

Also checked Texas at that time and she had about $400 there. Apparently we over paid for a hospital visit. Or they screwed up the billing.

Nothing since.

Just checked the Kentucky database and sure enough, I have $15.33 coming my way I didn't know about.

Actually went through the process and had around $300 in rebates/deposits never claimed from random utility bills.

Took a couple weeks and got a check in the mail. Bought a nice swim bait/A-rig rod.

About 4-5 years ago a buddy told me about it. My dad had $600 bucks somewhere. Contract work before he retired. I think it was a partial check or a small PTO payout. It was legit.

Totally sounds like a scam. The key to it was that it took minimal effort and zero cash to do it.

I did this a few years ago and had a grand sitting there. Always worth checking.

Is your refund considered taxable income?

Just got a check from the state of California for $4700. I didn’t have to submit any documents, but my wife needs something proof of address with her name on it. We lived in California for a couple of years and it looks like a class action lawsuit was filed when we worked there. Her claim is for about the same, but we lived there over 10 years ago. Trying to sift through old emails for a copy of a receipt or something.

First got the notice we had unclaimed money from some PI firm. They wanted ~$500 to help us claim it, but after a quick search I found out you can just go to the states lost money website yourself.

$25.48 I had let sit in my Illinois Toll Pass account that they closed for non-use. They sent the money to State of South Dakota since that's the address they had on file.

ETA - just found two for my brother, over $100 each, and 3 for my mom in Iowa.

Just got check from Mississippi for $760 and still not sure what it was from. All I had to do was verify I was correct person and they mailed it out to me asap.

I have less that $100 in an unclaimed account. The catch is it was a shared account with my ex-wife.

I ain't ever claiming that money...

I did find an accout (unknown life insurance policy) with between $5K and $10K for my deceased grandfather. The did had to reopen the will, but it was worth it.
