Statistically speaking, at some point, some of us are going to in a mass shooting. At least, that's how it seems.

What’s your point? The odds are still astronomical. It’s the Internet, people exaggerate. Except for the FACT that majority of the OT is rich AF and bang 10’s on the regular.

I would like to see that data on the odds of getting hit as an innocent bystander during a drug related or gang related homicide compared to being killed in a mass shooting. Or being hit by a stray bullet from black on black gun crime vs being killed during a mass shooting

May lead to some uncomfortable conversations because no one wants to take responsibility and admit who causes most of the extreme violence in this country. And those conversations also don’t lead to votes....huhum

The ironic thing about this is people think El Paso is a gang and crime ridden city but it’s actually really nice and safe. It’s one of the safest big cities in America

They are guilty by association with Juarez. I go there a lot for work and have come to like El Paso.

Which makes it doubly heroic that they all will haul arse towards a shooter and engage.

theres never any lefty examination of where these things take place.

CHL holders are the most law abiding of us, that's a fact.

that means if they have a drink, they dont carry. at a mall, they dont carry. at a school, they dont carry.

guess where these mass shootings happen.

Carry

My favorite are the people saying that all the carriers yesterday ran and hid like cowards.

I think the more likely explanation is that there were no carriers. El Paso is a blue blue city in Texas full of mostly hispanics that just dont come across to me as the gun owning type compared to other Texas cities

That's one thing I wondered about yesterdays shooting, but I believe I read it wasn't a full blown Walmart....if it was, someone should have broke into the gun case. I'm not saying to hunt the dude down, but if I were near the gun case hearing shots and screaming..you bet I'm breaking into it for a weapon.

Yes but it varies depending on the environment and who I have with me that I am responsible for.

Yes I carry - almost all the time, like 99% of the time.

My strategy varies if my children are with me and which of my children. I have adult and minor children. If it is just myself and my older boys we will likely engage to defend others. We are all well qualified and practiced with the weapons we carry.

If I have my younger children with me, if possible I am bugging out with them in tow. They know to listen to me, keep low, and move. It is like a fire drill - you need to practice, talk about it, etc. In fact my checking exit routes is handy in case of fire as well.

I typically have a high level of observation. I know what is going on around me, sit with my back to a wall and face toward as many entranced as possible.

If you are seriously interested in learning, Tim Kennedy has some excellent classes - Sheep Dog Response

His Sheepdog Level 1 as well as the Tactical Trauma Response courses are excellent. That brings up another point, have a tactical bag with you. It can be simply wearing a belt that doubles as a tourniquet and some bandages or a good, small back back with a full-blown kit in it. First responders do their best but in a chaotic scene your responsible for yourself.

Know where the exit is and run.

However, like Mike Tyson said,

Unless you are like a seal team 6 member or in a wheelchair any other answer is a clown response.

You really think ST6 are the only guys who can handle themselves? There are a lot of people in the military, veterans, and civilians who can handle the pressure and chaos of an active shooter situation well.

Always frickin' zigzag and make yourself look bigger than you really are. If faced with a possible bear attack, stand your ground.

Right.

And some of us have had guns pulled on us and been shot at.

My plan is to start a dialogue with the shooter. I’ll use my words not violence
