Do you have a "get out of here alive" strategy when it comes to mass shootings?

Statistically speaking, at some point, some of us are going to in a mass shooting. At least, that's how it seems.

Do you have a strategy to survive? Do you check to see where the exits are when you go somewhere? Do you keep your head on a swivel? Do you carry a gun? What's your plan? This is a legitimate question.

Carry

My favorite are the people saying that all the carriers yesterday ran and hid like cowards.

I think the more likely explanation is that there were no carriers. El Paso is a blue blue city in Texas full of mostly hispanics that just dont come across to me as the gun owning type compared to other Texas cities

Yea I am calling BS

Most people are not involved in a mass shooting at all in their lifetime. I don't know what statistics you are using but you should recheck that...

I’ve looked for exits everywhere I go for the last 10 years. Unfortunately that has been part of my DNA due to mass shooting after mass shooting. It’s only gotten worse since then.

And I profile the frick out of everyone I see when I’m in public. That may bother some but frick them. The lives of myself and my family are on the line and I’m doing whatever I can to preserve them. If I see a freshly shaven middle eastern looking male in an airport then I keep an eye on him. If I see an awkward looking white kid in a theater I’m keeping an eye on them. If I see a trashy looking thug anywhere then I keep an eye on them.

I probably won’t ever be elected to any public position for saying this but my head is always on a swivel with an eye toward certain demographic key points to protect my family. Stereotypes are earned - not handed out. If that makes me a bad person then so be it.

I doubt it is that. A mass shooting is just something different. I imagine most carriers think they are Dirty Harry until they're in that situation.

I've been in the military or EMS my entire adult life. You can plan all you want. No plan survives first contact, but I do like to know where all exits are when I go places. Also who I am with depends heavily how I will respond.

Wife and kids with me? I will make sure they are safe first and foremost.

Alone or with a friend.... honestly....try not to shite my pants.

Corporate training says run if you can. If you can’t safely run, hide. If you can’t hide, fight.

If we can't get away, I'm covering my wife with my body.

If I can find cover quickly and have my .45, I'm firing back.

Pistol against a long gun is shitty odds, but if that's how it is, that's how it is.

Just because you are armed doesn't mean you are in position to engage either. If you're somewhere open with no cover it's going to make it more difficult to fire back, you may have to wait for a better opportunity and that might not come.

3 shootings in the past week. They're getting more frequent.
