Heuristic reasoning is natural.
At home: I'm armed.
At work: I'm a little under 7 seconds from my car at all times. Whether I go back in once I'm armed is dependent on the shooter's location.
In stores, I look for exits.
In a movie theater I always sit on the handicapped row. If the shooter comes in the opposite, gf goes in front of me for exit with my back to shooter and head down.
If he's too close to run, I either have a four or six inch fixed blade on my waist at all times. I'll sling her purse at him run at him. One of us is going to die.
If the OT ever sees a news announcement about a fat guy stabbing a mass shooter 30+ times, be nice.

It's almost like I wrote this myself. Some differences as to why but spot on for how I approach being out in public.

You have a concealed carry license. You're not an infantry squad leader. You're not obligated to go hunt bad guys, which you're probably not trained for anyway. Your job is to protect yourself and your family. The best way is nearly always to unass the area, with your weapon being the last line of defense.

Especially since the cavalry is heading there in short order and probably won't be stopping to politely ask you if you are there to help.
In Dayton, the cops allegedly engaged the shooter within 30 seconds. Any civvie rushing in to "help" would have been essentially committing suicide.

I will rely on situational awareness, proactive positioning, reactive training, and ballistic performance.
Every situation is different and regardless of your plan to run hide fight or conceal cover engage your chance of success increases if you employ the above.
