Do you ever wake up and just REALLY appreciate what you've got relative to your ancestors?

It blows my mind sometimes.

I wake up in a comfy bed, not stuffed with straw or horsehair.
And in South Louisiana, in the dead of summer, I decide that 70 degrees isn't cool enough, so I hit that button on my wall to 69 and that 5 ton Ruud comes to life to do my bidding. ($6500 well spent)
Then I walk to a magic fridge and press a button, and ICE comes out. ICE. In August. In the south.
It is a thing that should not be.
And cool, clear, clean water flows out delicious on my command.

If I so choose I could hit a button, from across the room, and a TV damn near 100" diagonal turns on, one I could lift by myself and that didn't even cost me a grand (on sale). And I type in whatever I want, and for a pittance it's instantly available to me, shooting invisibly and near instantly through satellites in space.

Much better that the 20" tube in a 300 lb wooden box showing Lawrence Welk reruns my grandfather had.

However hard the day is, however tough it may feel...appreciate it.

As for me, I wake up grateful, thankful that I get one more shot to do it right.
