I had a patient about three moths ago that came to me for eye irritation. I check her BP with a machine and it wouldn't pick it up. I then took it manually and realized something was wrong. Listened to her heart and realized she was in afib (atrial fibrillation).

When I told her that and that the rate was very high, she said "I got an apple watch and it says my heart rate is always good." She then said she thinks she needs to change the settings on the watch to make it detect it.

She tapped a few times on the watch and at first it said it was a normal heart rate. Then about 10 seconds later the phone buzzed, she checked it, and it told her she was in afib.

I put her on the monitor and she was running 90s-160s afib.

Long story short, an apple watch can/may detect afib.

Are we talking Walking Dead zombies or World War Z zombies?

WD zombies - doesn't matter; just about any weapon will do

WWZ zomibes - doesn't matter; we're all gonna die

Not to mention that for 1000s of years, humans all over the world lived most of their lives killing or being killed.

Can you imagine trying to sleep knowing that other humans all around you wanted what was yours and that meant they wanted to kill you?

The more I read about histories of cultures and countries it blows my mind how much fighting and killing took place.

I sleep good at night and I am very thankful of that.

I also keep long zip ties, which I use to zip tie branches that I want out of my way, but want to still keep for cover. I use these a lot.

That's a great idea Salmon. Thanks for sharing that.
It's mostly the younger Hawaiians (teens to 30s) that are trashy and have no future.

Closest I've come to a fight happened in 2018 on Oahu...two days in a row. The second incident had multiple older Hawaiians apologizing to me for the way the yute was acting towards me. The POS yute keyed my rental car when I was still in a convenience store. Didn't notice it until after he left.

I've been back go Hawaii five times since and will be in Kauai again in September. All of these times the locals have been great people to be around.
NO rugs in the house - big of cause of falls

Walker, cane, or 4-pronged cane - to prevent falls

Non-slip grips in bottom of tub/shower - to prevent a slip and fall

Make sure she only wears good gripping, well fitting shoes - to prevent a trip & fall

Safety is usually a bigger factor in elderly health than controlling medical issues

Learned behavior

Notice how the kids don't run away from the adults fighting? A couple of them get right up in the middle of it.

Poison ivy rash does not spread on your body through scratching or fluid from your blisters. The rash itself is simply a localized allergic reaction to urushiol oil. If the rash appears to spread, it is typically due to lingering unwashed plant oils, delayed immune reactions, or repeated contact with contaminated items.

Why the rash appears to spread

Lingering Oil: If urushiol is still on your hands or an unwashed item (like clothing or gardening tools), touching other parts of your body will transfer the active oil and cause new rashes.

Delayed Reaction: Areas exposed to smaller amounts of oil, or places with thicker skin, can take longer to react, which makes it seem like the rash is moving over several days.

Blister Fluid Myth: The clear fluid inside poison ivy blisters does not contain urushiol and cannot spread the rash

We've all known people who think they need to stay away from people with an ivy "rash". I've seen too many mommas keep their kids out of school for fear that their kid would "spread" the poison ivy.

I've heard some say that every time they work in the yard, they get a poison ivy rash. It's because the oil is on their tools, gloves, boots, etc. and it can it can continue to recontaminate them for years.

The company I work for used to staff the medical clinics in Yellowstone.

A few years back when I was on the phone with my manger in Mammoth, I asked him how things were going there. He said, "well, we haven't had our first bison goring yet."

Yet
I wrote a research paper back in college about the red wolf. About all I remember is where they were said to be located and the possible cross with coyotes.

That was over 30 years ago.

Ahh yes, keeping up with the Joneses.

Does this mean that they won't be able to sign the 16 y/o kids from Cuba, DR, etc?

If so, then it's an even better plan.
In the 1978 picture, I could find the street and location of the house I grew up in for 13+ years.

We were there from '76-'89.

I visited Omaha and Utah beaches, Point du Hoc, and the American cemetery among other places there two years ago.

At the very end of the day, while at the cemetery when they were playing Taps and lowering the American flag, I teared up.

It hit me hard. I feel it right now as I type this.
